Morgan Aero 8, credible or not?
How do you all rate the Morgan Aero 8 ?
A friends amazed me, by turning up in a used 2002 one. Rechons it cost him 2/3 new price. Basic spec is: Cost new circa £60,000 sterling Radical all aluminium chassis and coachwork BMW Z8 286bhp V8 + 6 speed Kerb weight 1000Kg (less than a Mini Cooper) Air con, leather std. Leaky rag top and virtually no rear ward vision. Works car entered Le mans this year but sadly didn't complete enough laps to be classed as finisher After having driven the thing, I have to say I couldn't have been more wrong about what this car actually offers. How do you all view this car and what does it say about the driver. Also why are used values so low ( for a Morgan)? |

Personally I have been put off by the photos. Although the car may be great to drive the 'cross-eyed' headlights are ridiculous.
The Plus 8 knows has a clear cut image - a 1930's car brought up to date. On the other hand the Aero 8 looks like a poor attempt at 'repro' styling. |

Remember to take your rose tinted specs when going to the showroom to place a deposit.

Personally, I reckon the car looks better in the flesh, than in the pix, as the wild 3-D curves look even more imposing. Here's a pic of the limited edition GTN based on the Le Mans car. Only 11 built. Note wheels, side exhausts,Hardtop,330BHP front brake cooling vents. http://www.morgan-motor.co.uk/sales/...edcar__gtn.JPG |

The Areo 8 is great. Obvious styling flaw ,it looks like it has run into a tree head on.

Seems to me the car is meant for the DRIVER who doesn't give a toss whether other people like the look of it.. surely its awesome dynamics make is very special. Poseurs can buy TTs or BMW hairdresser roadsters instead....
My STi looks **** compared to many other cars, but looks heaps better from behind the steering wheel! |

Not my cup of tea, but my old man likes it. I think the lights are strange to look at, the rest of the car looks good - just like other classics.
