Yes , I agree , some sort of Red Bull sponsorship ..... but I heard from an insider that Mobil 1 would also be a rather large sponsor too .

David Land has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I am really hoping they call this car the 918-LM.

The 918 road car shares its engine with the RS Spyder, do you think this new Porsche P1 car will as well?

When Loeb was WRC I think he had osme relationship with Red Bull with the car color scheme. Similarly Raikkonen also carried around the Red Bull.

Sadly, I doubt as boxer ... wide engines block tunnels. V4 or I4 seems most likely. Maybe a rotary four with a ERS flywheel mounted atop it.

How big/long are current LMP tunnels? Surely a little flat 4 wouldn't get in the way. The idea of a 2 litre turbo in-line 4 makes me want to go to sleep.

So those F1 cars from the 80's were snooze mobiles in terms of the engine (noise etc.)?

Looks like Mark Webber will be the star in the reasonably priced car on tonight's episode of Top Gear. I imagine him leaving F1 for Porsche will be mentioned at some point. Should be VERY good publicity for sportscar racing.

And I think that it can be put to rest now: Roger Penske on Wind Tunnel with Dave Despain did admit to talking to Porsche about their LMP1 car. However, Roger confirmed that Porsche has their own factory team to run their cars next year, so Penske is out of that race.

Speculation/my take: Penske might run the Porsche LMP1 as a customer program in the future if there's a place in America to run it or he decides to run LM or the WEC, but Penske's out for sure as far as a full factory program, let alone being the new factory team.

This has been known for a while as far as hardcore sportscar fans, but this also might put to bed the rumors of an American LMP1 racing series as far as that happening any time soon.

Sorry if this has been quoted here before? I was reading a Porsche Magazine whilst waiting for my cars MOT test this morning...Porsche said they had debated wether to go F1 or WEC, but rejected Formula One as a "Tabloid Sport! and recognised WEC was followed by "Real Enthusiasts"...Cool!
