That’s right, he did collide with Elio at the hairpin.

The great thing about 81 is we had no clear number, so it was a very open season by the competitiveness of the racing. And tyre were not a necessity then, let alone mandatory...

now there are some proper photos, nice stuff, thanks for putting them up.
Its quite something the change from each year with the cars, 78 still has that mid 70sishness to them, and then with each year you see a real difference.--notably the nose and front wing, or lack thereof , changes.

Its neat to see them next to each other on the page here as those few years go by.
The '79 shot of Stuck with that Simpson Darth Vader helmet on, I clearly remember motorcycle mags from about that time and the Simpson helmet was really cool looking to us.

re that catch fencing again, man that must have been horrible going off and getting all wrapped up in it, not being able to get out. Scary stuff.
