DJR to Holden?

I haven't seen it but there is supposed to be a story in a Sydney paper that DJR are considering moving to Holden.

The Sunday Mail (Brisbane) is running a story today from Winton :-
DJR to Holden
Tander to DJR
Lowndes to DJR
CAT to DJR or to take over DJR.
Holden are denying any contact.

Yes it is in the Sunday Telegraph, here in NSW, an article by Ray Kershler, who is usually very spot on with his information.

The QLD feature is written by Gordon Lomas and has a bit more information than the Ray Kershler piece. There isn't a link that I can find.

well the bloke who runs prodrive is here in Oz this weekend and he has stated that they want Craig for next year for sure and its up to them to prove to craig that they can do the job.

he is also a Ford contracted driver so i suspect he will stay with the blue oval.

Now DJR to Holden ????

My goodness that seems a tad far fetched doesnt it but you never know but im sure Dick would stay with Ford but ive been known to be wrong before

This would have happened had PWR purchased the assets and race team of DJR.... but they didnt so they wont....

DJR does not enormous support from the Ford Motor Company, indeed the financial involvement on a per car basis is said to be similar to the contributions supplied to Ellery, BJR etc, where there is some signage on the car, but is not a major financial supporter in the same manner Ford is with 888, SBR & FPR....

Interestingly DJR came within a beesd!ck of losing Ford support altogether at the start of this season, previous seasons' results firmly in Ford's mind, with only the influx of overseas technical talent in place to save them from a loss of funding....

The noise around suggests Ford knows there are a couple of recalcitrants in the DJR management structure, and that these are holding back the team. The way the story goes, Ford wanted a personnel change before they committed to DJR, with the imports the swinger, but the basis of the issue they perceive is still there.

A switch to Holden could happen, but it depends how strongly Ford wants to keep the iconic nameplate... indeed I wouldnt mind buying it... (my initials would allow it to remain DJR, regardless of who else was involved... )

This is probably more a negotiating ploy to squeeze ford for more money rather than a real deal. But I think everyone knows some changes have to take place at DJR, what the end result will be who knows?

It's not the first time that DJ has threatened to change camp , with DJRs performance over the past few years there would seem to be little loss at the front of the field - How much better would they expect to be by running Commodores ?? - they still haven't come to grips with the BA after two seasons !!

There was the same story going around after Johnson and Bowe won Bathurst in 1994. It was used at the time to force Fords hand in giving them some more money, sounds like they are doing the same thing again

Let 'em go.

If they think there is a better commercial deal out there, then good luck to DJR.

Until they rid their team of some key personnel internally which hamper progress (and by this I dont necessarily mean the drivers) then the team will not return to their glory days.

And given their enduro driving combinations, I cannot see that the team has the speed, reliability and racecraft to come home in 1st place at the mountain this year

(this will likely come back to haunt me....)
