Will KTM win races this year?
1 minor points finish each for Arnaud Vincent and Roberto Locatelli so they need to improve a fair bit before they are challenging for wins. But can they improve enough during the course of the year - can KTM win 1 or more races in 2003?

Not a chance. They still have a lot of development work to do before they can even consider podium finishes a possibility.

no way, they have very competative riders on those machines and are still doing nothing, i suspect the machines are worse than they seem and the riders are busting their ass's to get them to where they are

I doubt it. The bike just is nowhere enar good enough, especially considering how impressive their rider lineup is. They'd be lucky to get on the podium this season, barring high atrition or rain.

No. My first predictions were that Vincent could win in wet, but I say no after today's race.

Wasn't Vincent well inside the top 10 before he retired? I doubt he would have caught Jenkner, but still.

While watching the telecast I noticed Vincent climb as high as 9th before he disappeared off the timing screens.

Honda and Aprillia have had years of racing to develop their bikes, it'll take some time before KTM gte up there, in a year or 2 maybe. They'll get some top 10's this year, maybe a top 5 towards the end of the year if they're lucky.

KTM in 2004
How will KTM do with Kallio and Stoner in 2004? Given their late season form wins must be possible...

I think that in next year KTM should have good chance to win a race. Two young drivers should help them up.

Stoner should be ok, the issue might be how much development gets done... Casey was on a kit bike this year and did very well... just remain unsure how the role of bike developer will sit with him.... its a big step up

I agree. I don't think this is a particularly good move for Casey at this stage. I think he should be making an all-out assault on the championship in 2004, but if KTM promise him class progression, and a big budget then the trade-off might be worth it.
