And question about aerodynamics of Groupe 5 cars. 'Autosport' (February24, 1977) says that Hezemans Escort was going to have 'brushes' on the front and sides of the car a la Lotus 78. Did the famous Holland build that aerodynamic tweaks or was it only some rumours?
I've managed to get some pdf-files with old German magazines with some articles on G5 wing-cars build on base of Kremer 935 for Ludwig. So it wouldn't be a suprise if that Escort had worn some brushes.
Maybe somebody knows exactly whether there were brushes on Escort at Norisring'77...

Hezemans tried for sure - they were planned, perhaps tested but not used. He used an F3 rear wing (I think of a March 763) later in the season.
I don't think the Kremer K3 was a wing car (the engine was in the wrong position for that), it had superior aerodynamics though.
A real wing car was the 1980 Capri of Ludwig from mid-season; it had an enormous tunnel and skirts.

Yes,my mistake. Rear engine situated behind the axle wouldn't let designers to build tunnels.
Thanks a lot for explanation!
I'll try to make my German better to understand completly that articles. Besides, some facts are not in strict order in my head. So, I can generate some stupid ideas.

Unfortunately,I have pages from German magazines with Porsche-935 only..

I'd like to know from those who watched that 70-80's racing. Was there any 'succes ballast' systems in DRM or ETCC? They were trying to prove me that without that ballast racing will die or became monoclass because teams are going to buy only the best car.
So,what was there in that old car racing that kept it alive? Excuse me,if the question is off topic.

I think they started handicapping/adding ballast to DTM cars in 1990?

Yes, there was ballast at four-wheel-drive Audis - it's for sure.

Excuse me by digging up this old theme, but has anybody know something about a new book about DRM? The title is "Eine Geile Zeit" if I remember correct. I've already bought Harold Schwarz's book Gruppe 5 and it's a great reading I should say (even with a dictionary). So, maybe somebody already has that DRM book? How interesting is it compare to Schwarz's Gruppe 5?

Thanks a lot!

I think, I'll order it too, but delivering takes a lot of time, so I'll get it not sooner than DTM season start. Because of that I've even stopped buying Autosport print edition,as delivering was too slow.
Besides, are DRM videos still available? I've seen only 1975-1981 one disc review. Or maybe it a set of discs.

Hi Helgi, the publishers have said that the book will be delivered quickly to me once it is published on the 1st April. There are quite a few DVD's of the DRM,I have found them on the German version of bay.Just type DRM into the search box.The main company selling them gives you the chance to watch a couple of minutes preview for free to help choose if the quality is OK. Some of the films are from fans ho had their own video camearas but some are as they were shown on German TV.Ian

Hallo to all!
Ive found some interesting books at ebay.de (itc jahrbuch, tourenwagen2000) but the seller has no opportunity to send it outside Germany. What do you usually do in that cases?

The seller could post it to you if he/she wanted to, they would just have to find out how much it would cost and then invoice you for that (as far as I am aware from previous experiences) But ultimately it's the seller's choice I guess.

At last I've ordered "Eine geile Zeit" book. I'll get it in July I hope.
And since I've started playing a DRM mod for rFactor there's a question. What "characters" did those different silhouettes have?
I've read at Jagermeister's team member book that Porsche was a real rocket. You just needed to point the direction after a turn and push the throttle.
Late Capris were good in cornering with their ground effect.
And Lancia was most "friendly" to driver, but had a weak engine.
What do you think?

Gruppe 5 is an amazing book. Of course, it's a little bit difficult to read because I don't know German well, but the stories of constructing those 320s, Capris, Kremers are wonderful. And I'm sure, that another book is as useful as the first one.

Both books are truly worthwhile (especially when you can read a little German), with lots of pictures. The "Geile Zeit" book has some errors, but nothing you can't correct using a certain touring car site...
