DTM - Brands Hatch

Hi Folks,

I've seen on the BH website (And had some confirmation from Mildred) that the Friday session will have no DTM running and the circuit gates open at 12:00 so I would assume no track activity at all until about 13:00, just incase people were planning to leave home at silly o'clock to get to Brands for a 7:00am sign on.

Otherwise, see you there.

Interesting. So it may just be a test day then?
They could do some of the "less important" lappery on the Friday, Like "camera laps", DTM taxi rides etc
Does make for a dull Friday morning though, sitting on the M25 glad you usually do that run at 7 am.

I was looking forward to doing the DTM for the first time since they were last at Donington many years ago. However, due to the lack of a guest pass, I have decided to change my plans. Shame really!

Might the legendary German efficiency extend to providing their own brooms?

It should be so, even with the reduction of DTM running - no Friday 'burn-outs' [hmm I love the smell of burning rubber ] nor a warm-up .

Thanks to the team on P3 over the 3 days for good company and good marshalling - and well done to those there on Friday for the teamwork in dealing with the incident.

See folks soon

Brooms ...

Well, two brand new brooms on every post! With real bristles, too ...

I'll agree with that too, thanks for an entertaining Friday on post 9.
I was on a different post for Saturday and Sunday.

I don't think that I will bother with this meeting next year though, to think I used to pay to watch it.......

What are peoples views on the recovery of Farfus' car? Looked a bit dodgy from spectator land - crossing a live circuit with a recovery vehicle (presumably having exited the back end of the pit lane?) then towing the car back across the circuit to the exit of the pit lane onto the grass. Odd. I thought they were going to take it out of the ambulance gate but then they went the other way. Seemed risky to me.

Well... we were on post 2 while this was happening and were fully expecting the car to be towed up to us and left until the end, then it darted off to the side and crossed the track. That was then followed by the recovery vehicle taking to the track around paddock hill bend to park up behind Post 7 while being passed by DTM cars in full flight. Funnier was watching the somewhat chubbier than your average race driver recovery guy trying to squeeze his backside into the race seat (Epic Fail, he was lying side on with his head wedged against the roll cage) to tow it back afterwards rather than let D&G take it back on the flatbed. We can only assume that this is normal practice in DTM land and that this is how they do it! I think it certainly warranted a safety car while they recovered, but at the end of the day no one got hurt so maybe it was either the height of recovery professionalism or just a damn lucky event!
