I took a peek at Rokit's website and I think it might show how they expect to capitlize on their F1 sponsorship. Look at this page...

It shows F1 in the context of "innovation" and how Rokit is part of that. I can imagine many will see that (and similar marketing material) and think... "I have heard of F1. That is some high tech stuff right there!" Then there is a subset of those folks who see that (or actually watch F1) and think... "Poor Williams. They are having a rough time right now."

Overall, it's less about being with a winning team as it is the image of being part of F1. Sure, being part of a winning team would be great, but few can afford to be a title sponsor for Mercedes or a Ferrari! And... I expect the Williams title sponsorship is currently a good deal for Rokit as how can Williams be asking for premium money given their situation.

Plus someone is a good salesman at Williams right now!

Also looked at it earlier on...some interesting programs. Telemedicine, prescription discounts, roadside assistance, insurance, legal etc.

I dont know if that is innovative or not but as our lives become more tied to our phones then maybe it is.

Also like their other partners...Houston Rockets (great name association) and LA Chargers ( better name association for a mobile company lol).

And yeah, Claire takes a lot of flack (some deserved) but she seems to have her father's flair for finding quality sponsors.

Good news for Williams and looks like Claire had done a great job to extend the relationship.

It's often a Catch 22 situation at the rear of the grid - without sponsor income its hard or impossible to move forward compared to the other teams but the level of sponsor income usually depends to some extent on team performance.

To have an ongoing level of income gives the team an opportunity to plan and develop its way forward in a deliverable way, rather than lurching from year to year like a punch-drunk fighter, desperately trying to dig out of a hole and find the income to do so.

Next item on the agenda has to be the operational path needed - I can't see it being a miracle turnaround but hopefully the team can improve from where it is - although I'm not holding my breath for 2019.

Hands up all those that thought Kubica was the second coming who was going to save F1 & then Williams all in the same season. He should have rested on his laurels, now he has committed career suicide which saddens me.

Seems very practical to me. Focus on the car. No need to create drama and extra work by switching up drivers mid-season. And likely the end result of a driver swap would not be significantly different than now. In that they would still be fighting for positions at the rear.

I had a chat with someone who's familiar with that situation last week; they commented that the sponsors are very happy indeed. The drain cover and subsequent bridge incident in Baku gave them vastly more TV exposure across the world than expected!

Overall this was fun to see in Q3. The topic of Q3 is always around 15/16th! However, lets not get giddy. We need step 2 to follow step 1.
