Google Earth users : Le Mans finally updated!
Ok, it may be a little off topic for this forum but...
Not before time Google Earth has finally got some detailed coverage of France including Le Sarthe region! For those without the program here's a link via the web viewer: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=e...829&iwloc=addr It's maybe not as High resolution as other regions but it is still a vast improvement over what they had before, and it appears to be post 2002 because Dunlop to Esses section is as current. Another circuit which was not clearly visible before the update was Dijon, plus I think the update extends out to some other regions of Europe as Spain seems to have more detail in many areas. Check it out for yourselves. |

I already use it for my avatar !
Other good places to see on Google Earth : try to find them : Nurburgring nord schleiffe (Karrusel is splendid) Suzuka Mugello (very detailed) Daytona Spa (we can guess the old long version) |

Zolder has also been updated. Also many of the ALMS circuits can be seen, some clearly Sebring, Laguna, Road Atlanta. other like MoSport are not quite as good.

note that for france (only !) you can use http://www.geoportail.fr
they have much better quality than google earth (scale 1/1500 where google is 1/6000) not so easy to navigate inside, but it's splendid for Le Mans track, you can even see vehicles on the track the picture is older (they say taken by 2000) |

Snetterton is horribly blurry as i recall, can just make it out but there would be no chance of identifying any cars on track. Update please.

If anyone's interested, flashearth (just google it) is good as well - uses google earth, and other aerial / online mapping sites etc so you can switch between the different providers which can lead to better pics.

Just loaded it up tonight and got a nice surprise!
Yes folks, another major new update to google earth! In plain english we can now see Oulton Park & Cadwell, plus Silverstone and Rockingham are now in a higher resolution. There's probably loads more International circuit venues that have been updated, but it's early days so I havent got round to checking that yet. P.S. I'm not sure if it's because of the latest update but I can now see very clearly the old Pit buildings to the vintage Reims circuit! |

Brands Hatch is a good one now, it has images of a Superbikes meeting now. Cadwell is indeed much improved, you can see bikes out on track!

It's still hopelessly out of date though - the improved resolution of Berkshire proves this - no race van at my place and I've had it 18 months !

That image is from the 2000 World Superbike meeting. I can see my old Lupo parked in the top paddock. Our old camper is parked in the drive of my house. That is how I can date that image |
