Hmm, Romain will be in the Penske IRL car ( testing? ). Is this in prep for no Porsche works P-2 in the ALMS next year?

As is the case every year with Audi, we sit here and wait. I don't really find it follows that the customer program has been so strong for the RS Spyder - after all, only 2 of the 5 theoretical ALMS privateer Spyders have emerged, and with Dyson, THE most reliable American sports prototype privateer is already accounted for. It would be very sad to see Porsche abandon factory support for the RS Spyder at this juncture. Moving to P1 makes more sense of course, but Penske should be rewarded for the unbelievable job they've done with this P2 chassis.

It seems that Porsche see the writing on the wall, that they will not (most likely) be allowed to compete for overall wins in 09 with a P-2. And I frankly do not see the Porsche factory racing for just a class win and not overall.
The question becomes, I guess, does Porsche see an opportunity in P-1 to build a program that will be, if nothing else, cash neutral? Porsche does not pay to go racing as we all know, they race to get paid! Also is the 800# Gorilla of the Audi program that needs to be considered in the whole mix. ?? L.P. |

If Penske leave you may well find more customer RS Spyders turning up (or not), especially if Acura's focus is P1.
More opportunites for smaller teams. |

This could also be the time to make those sort of noises to put pressure on the ACO before they anounce the 2009 & 2010 rules package

Penske is experimenting with low drag wheel covers. See http://www.new.facebook.com/photo.ph...872327&l=33823
Are these the same as the covers it was not allowed to run in Le Mans? Last edited by gwyllion; 3 Oct 2008 at 06:44. |

Talking of wheel covers, why don't teams us full wheel covers, even wheel cover 'discs' as in Group C, i.e. XJR-11, at the very least they look cool.

The ACO banned wheel spats after Group C went out, and the F1 type wheel covers have been presumably banned, too, though IMSA is allowing them to be run, probably under a tech. waiver.

RS spyder of Team Goh seems not to have been sold yet.
The car has been exhibited in the factory of the COX Inc.(Japanese agency of Porsche). http://ameblo.jp/stgt/entry-10514954119.html |

Its a shame that the car is not wearing the Goh livery anymore, that looked so nice, probably my favourite RS Spyder livery.
