They do a corved filter cover to ala the DFV's from the 70's and 80's. Have one on my twin carb TR4.

Can supply the red covers for either 40 or 45 DCOE's -- have not come across a situation where using dual or triple carbs has proved to be a problem.........

I am not sure if I will put a filter on - at the moment I´ll leave it as is without.
Now - I have decided, that I will make the cork option. I quite like the idea ! And - additionally I will also make the aluminium version, also easy to do. Thank you all again for your ideas ! Ralf |

I would always run an air cleaner, one trip into the gravel trap and that engine could be toast. Is it worth the low few BHP you will gain plus the wear and tear from dust etc.

Al - it is a very sensible recommendation, indeed.
Problem is space...I would not want to cut the bodywork, it is awfully tight ! |

Would shorter trumpets and an airbox with a piped intake into the airstream help? That could be filtered at the intake.

seems od for a single seater of that age for them to not be poking out into free air, shorter pipes and the curved ITG I'm sure would fit - but they need to be having air able to get to them!!

The 20 was very streamlined and lowline - all is original as intended by Chapman etc.
I have also not seen any different setup at other 20 s, also no other air ducting or similar. So, I will leave that for the moment. But - my corks have just arrived.... |

....... or a 40! Didn't somebody once say that the 40 was the based on a 30 but with 10 more mistakes?
Certainly not two of CCs best concepts. |

The 40 wasn't a favorite of Jack Sears if I remember correctly.

They will tone down with age, stink of stale petrol and look completely original after a while. |
