IPS - Luyendyk Jr. signs for Sam Schmidt Motorsports

www.openwheelracing.com reports that Arie Luyendyk Jr. has signed for Sam Schmidt Motorsports to do the full IPS season again 2004. He'll become the team mate of Thiago Medeiros.

Also, seems Luyendyk Jr. hasn't fully given up on a seat in the IndyCar series just yet;

Quote:
Arie Jr.'s plan of running in the IRL IndyCar Series is still a primary goal for 2004, and ongoing efforts continue to be made for a full or partial season program.

How has he looked so far? A chip off the old block, or is his name giving him undeserved opportunities?

I really wish Sam could get the funding to run the IRL again, but at least he's got a team on track.

I think he got himself a few podiums last year. Didn't actually see him race though.

Yes, but unless that Panther car was using Nos then you'd have serious thoughts about signing someone that got given such a whoopin' by an Englishmen having his first crack at ovals.

Is his Pa going to Indy this year?

Undeserved opportunities is an under statment, He takes a lot for granted is what im told, kind of forgets to appreciate the whole situation, according to a very close friend of mine who graduated with him, and an X ff2000 race engineer of his. But good luck anyway I hope he can do a good job this year.

PEACE

Has he got any opposition in IPS this year?

Only about 3 cars are signed up.

The series has had a chance to flourish and failed.

If they can't get more than 16 cars, cancel it.
