FIA GT Rnd 10: Dubai 16-18 Nov 2006

GT1 entry a bit depleted for the final round but GT2 looks like it's a bit bigger?

Larbre have entered a 550 with the developmental 'low cost' engine in it for evaluation purposes.

No Lamborghini and no Cirtek Aston which I thought might make the trip along with maybe the Menten Vette?

Vitaphone have entered Eric Van Der Poele and Vincent Vosse in the 2 Maserati's making them 3 driver line ups for this event (shame not in a separate 3rd car!)

The Lambo team never considered to race outside Europe.

Cirtek don’t have any Aston, that’s all Team Modena now. But you are right, Team Modena announced some month ago plans to race in Dubai. Unfortunately that doesn’t come true.

the larbre 550 should be very interesting, I hope it goes well. If it proves quick then we might get more of them. (more is better to me at least)

After Silverstone Racealliance split with Diefenbacher because of his crash at the start and weren’t able to find another funded drivers, thus the Aston is gathering dust since than.

According to the FIA GT website it is "Live" at 14.00 hours all round Europe including the UK, that is confusing on two counts, it can't be at the same time in Europe mainland and UK as there is 1 hour difference so is that 13.00 UK time? The second reason is that the race starts at 14.30 local time and that is 3 hours ahead of UK so the race starts at 11.30 UK time. We shall therefore have the live pictures and commentary delayed by either 90 minutes or 150 minutes. If you are taking the live timing on the computer this is very confusing as you keep wanting to tell the commentators what happens next!

The AF Corse disciplining of Bobbi for knocking Salo off is interesting as is the inclusion of Rockenfeller with Collard in the factory Porsche and the omission of Kirkaldi in the Scuderia Ecosse car because of "other commitments"

According to the SKY screen schedule it is not on at all in the UK

Thanks for the pics guys!

I have to admit that i feel very ashamed...
...I saw a couple of these pics before but it didn't occur to me that it was the new liverey. Maybe because I thought (actually I hoped) it would be totally different.

I know the Belgian Racing Vertigo had technical problems and will get parts flown in from Belgium today, but what happened to the 2nd Ebimotors Porsche?

Spyker 3rd and 6th, not bad at all.

And the Labre Ferrari 550 takes pole! I wonder if we will see these cars once again in GT1 in 2007? If what I have read is true then Prodrive do have a strong case for managing the engines life. Here are the full qualifying times courtesy of www.autosport.com

I wonder whether the Larbre Ferrari's performance today was down to the electronically restricted engine giving more power than the traditional air restricted engines, or down to Gabriele Gardel who I seem to remember was pretty impressive at Dubai the last two years.

Best 550 last year was Lamy and this time is 7/10 quicker than he was last year. Gardell and Lamy? really don't know but Lamy is pretty impressive. The 06 550 time would have put it 3rd on last years grid but then the lead Aston (Rusian Age, Bouchut/Ortelli) was also on Michelin

The Porsches from GruppeM last year would have been 2nd and 4th on this years grid but again they ran Michelin last year and Collard was not able to live with the Ferraris this year, anybody know why #75 did not put up a time in qual?

They had to change engine after second free practice and so they missed the qualifrying.
