Frankly if TGF hadn't started wearing his hat in the press room I don't think people would be doing it today. Charlie Whiting was asked this very question and his reply (frankly) stinks. "As long as its a Michael Schumacher sponsor the FIA has no obtections to the wearing of caps in the press room." He went on to point out that the Williams peak was however not in the spirit of the rules and any further wearing of these hats would result in the team being stripped of all its points in the 1975 World Championship.

Of course the FIA has not always been this lenient with Schumacher.
Everybody will no doubt recall the '94 season when he was disqualified from the Belgian GP for having a worn peak. Then there was the farcical '99 Malaysian GP when the FIA finally admitted that the instruments used to measure the peak were, in fact, inaccurate. |

Then there was McLaren in 1998 who had innovative new fastenings at the back of their hats designed by Adrian Newey, which all the other drivers complained about because they were jealous...

Yes, but I just read that Brunner had prepared an all new style of peak, equipped with special fairings to aid downforce, for the latest Minardi cap, and has taken this information with him to Toyota.

That's just disgraceful...he did already work on next years cap, though didn't he?? But I think Minardi are worried about who's going to supply the stitching...

F. Porsche (I think): A cap should fall apart right after it is placed on the head.

Q: A question to the drivers and team owners about caps - I was taught it was very bad manners to wear a hat indoors, are you required to wear baseball caps and what are the opinions of the team managers?
Eddie Jordan: You are a dickbrain. What a question! Q: Well....Mr Jordon....sorry..so sorry. I just...uh...well...uh It is common knowledge that you a more concerned with merchandising than race results. |
