The big problem is the long off season, mainly because IndyCar doesn't want to clash with the NFL. The other problem recently, has been an early season start at St. Pete, followed by almost a month until Phoenix.

What would be better? A June and LM break, 2 races prior to Sebring followed by a Sebring / March break or 6 months straight with no racing? |

OT: I've always found it very strange move, when the NASCAR race in Atlanta was scheduled in late February. Though they had pretty good weather in 2016 and 2017.

It snowed at one of the March races. Late March "should" be fine. Or, it would be a little twisty. IE, Tornadoes....

Which is why I think Barber should probably stay where it's at. The only downside is that when there is weather, it can get rowdy. I'm not sure what the solution to the missing race is but if somehow we could keep Mid Ohio and work Cleveland into the schedule too... |

Because it's green in April, and yellow in September.

That area of California has very green and very tan growth depending on the season, and not too much further north is VERY green, but I can't think of any major tracks in that area. Think redwood forest and coastal fog near constantly. California runs the entire spectrum from desert scrub to temperate rain forest so it all depends where you are. Sonoma just happens to be more chaparral (cismontane if you prefer specifics) than green forest most of the year.

Btw. here in Finland where we had virtually no rain from 10th of May till mid-June, open spaces (and our lawn) really started to look very much like coastal California. Usually the early June is mostly cool and overcast. |

The immediate problem IndyCar faces with next season is, without Phoenix, what's going to fill the gap between Round 1 at St. Pete and Round 3, which I suppose will be Long Beach?

I'm guessing either Homestead or Houston. I don't see a return to Las Vegas or NOLA coming, and that slot is definitely too close to Long Beach for them to do Fontana then.

The other issue with Houston is that it probably makes keeping Texas Motor Speedway on the schedule somewhat less likely long term. Last edited by TheMightyM; 2 Jul 2018 at 01:37. |

----- Well before the deal was not renewed with PIR, there had to be something else already in mind. Never know, could completely change things up here for the opening rounds |

Homestead would be good but where does it go on the calendar? Realistically, it can't come straight after St. Pete, so are Long Beach and Barber moved forward? Though not confirmed, I don't think Mexico has been ruled out.
