Ten Tenths member makes Bathurst debut !!!

for all you Historic fans that dont venture into the Aussie V8 forum that much our own Ten tenths member David Patterson is making his Historic debut at Mount Panorama Bathurst this weekend.

Dave has been running his old Datsun for a few years now and has just upgraded to a Holden Torana GTR XU1 and had his first vivtory not that long ago at Queensland raceway.
This weekend however David makes his debut at one of Australias (and possibly the worlds) greatest tracks, Mount Panorama where they hold the 1000km V8 supercar race.

The Historics are running there as a support class and Im sure David is over the moon finally to get a chance to race on this amazing track.

there are well over 50 cars entered for the event and I believe Dave has qualified 45th for the race, not a bad effort for first time at this track and in a car that he really hasnt sorted as yet.

Lets hope he has a great weekend and kicks some historic butt

GO FOR IT DAVE !!!!!!!

Excellent! Now, in the year when we're getting the first ever British live telecast of the great race, wouldn't it be nice if they keep the cameras rolling for the Historics too, even to see the highlights.

Motors TV, John - Sky Digital channel 416. They've had Mark Skaife plugging it all week.

I for one will have the beers in!

and great news to hear that you guys are getting a live telecast as well , hope you enjoy it, just think though when the light turns green it will be 10am here , I wonder what time it will be over there ????

well disaster for Dave in race 2 , starting from 37th and with national TV coverage of the race , Dave unfortunately coasted to a stop on the warm up lap, thus ending his race

but this bad luck could have actually been a blessing in disguise as at turn three there was a pile up in the midfield and the race was stopped.

Bad luck Dave but at least you got your car on national TV and I could hear the collective sighs of all ten tenths members who were watching, better luck next time mate !!!

But hey, the Green Meanie got a mention and about 15sec of TV coverage!

Mark Skaife plugging the race? That would probably be a turn off for most Aussie's

Bad luck Dave, but then again he has raced a car at Bathurst, so congrats as well for getting there.

Due to the cancellation of race 2 Dave probably got as much time on TV as the race leaders, and can say he has had his name said on TV.

Patto

Tough break Dave - however others were much less fortunate. The damage to some of the cars was a crying shame - and as for the treatment of the Historics (race shortened to 4 laps) - as usual disgusting. Soooooo much time was wasted on Saturday - you could have staged several more races/practices. As others have said, you can now say you've raced at Bathurst (awesome).

BTW I introduced myself before proceeding to my Flag Point when you were unloading the car from the trailer Best of luck

Hey y'all, thanks for all the best wishes, I watched the tape of the telecast today and it was pretty cool seeing my name and car on TV and hearing the commentators commiserating my stoppage on the warm up lap. If you look closely you can actually see me at the wheel flicking switches and pressing buttons and pleading for the car to fire up and run cleanly. It turned out to be a blockage in the fuel system after the car picked up some rubbish from a very low tank after the Friday race. The firies pushed it behind the fence after the red flag came out, my mechanic fiddled with the fuel filter and pump for 30 seconds and it fired up perfectly, hasn't missed a beat since. I will however, give the system a thorough cleanup before the next meeting.

Mick it was nice to meet you, I'm always keen to meet 10/10 members and particularly happy to meet race officials who are historic racing buffs.

It was great that our class got such a tremendous opportunity to promote ourselves and demonstrate what we have to offer the fans on both sides of the fence. Unfortunately, a number of circumstances prevented that opportunity from being everything it could have been.

Finally, I was truly in awe of the circuit and will have to go back in future, it is absolutely awesome. If any of you ever have the opportunity, you must go there.

Dave, nice to meet you also. At the moment I'm hanging out for any news on a certain Firies shoulder I don't want to call and disturb Mikes peace so if you hear anything, please post it here? Cheers

Mike's shoulder is getting better and he is actually going to Indy after all. Obviously he can't work a point so he is doing some support work behind the scenes, I think he might be manning radios etc.
