Nascar on the box

Do any of u guys know who secured the TV rights to screen the Nextel to us Brits 'cos last season was a total bloody shambles with British Eurosport showing races when they felt like it and at various times which bore not the slightest resemblance to those advertised in TV guide or Teletext, I lost count of the times I set the old VCR to record a race only to be presented the following day with Pro-celebrity ass scratching or some other equally riveting fare. Please tell me it aint them again 'cos I'm losing the will to live.

I've heard that it will be NASN and British Eurosport again, same as last year....but with BE changing from Sunday nights to the Tuesday after a race to show their hour highlights (reduces the seven day delay to just two! )

You will be recieving my vets bill in due course codename 'cos I just booted the cat thru a plate glass window. Still I suppose if I set the VCR to record on 7 Feb am and leave it for a day or 3 I may with luck catch at least some of Daytona. Failing that I can feast on International navel gazing and the World Watching Paint Dry Championship live from Outer Mongolia. Not to labour the point but I made the grave error of switching to BE the other day and was confronted by a bunch of pasty-faced geezers plodding thru the snow with shooters tied to their backs who would from time to time fall over and fire their shootin' irons at something in the distance, I mean to say wot the is that all about eh? This is the cue for the politically correct brigade to tell me that I must'nt denigrate other sports for fear of offending the millions of igloo dwellers that gain immense pleasure from this rivetting spectacle, well don't bother it's a load of old guff deal with it! I mean to say if I want to watch something connected to snow, firearms and falling down I'd send the missus thru downtown Grozny with a target on her back and a sign saying "Putin is a sex god".

just subscribe to NASN, it is worth it.

8 Feb 5.30pm
Budweiser Shootout - NASCAR Nextel Cup Series LIVE

12 Feb 6.00pm
Gatorade 125s - NASCAR Nextel Cup Series LIVE

15 Feb 6.00pm
NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Daytona 500 LIVE

22 Feb 6.00pm
NASCAR Nextel Cup Series Subway 400 LIVE

£9.99 a month x 12 = £119.88 / 40 races (38 Nextel + Bud + Charlotte Allstars) = £3.00 for live un-interupted coverage.
I consider it good value for money
Last year all but 6 races were live, rest tape delayed by an hour or so and the only one they missed was the first Bristol race, plus a few truck series races were live too.

You'll also get Nascar Busch series live on MotorsTV too and that's free.

Jay,
you know Motors TV is being encrypted on 19E from Feb 1st?

Should still be FTA at 28E though.

Answering my own question now...I know that breaks every rule in the netiquette book, but...oops!

Erm,....no! Only the Pre-race of the Daytona 500 will be freeview to non-NASN subscribers...

Makes me wonder if investing in Sky Plus over NASN was the better option......Ah, I'll disagree when I'm not missing all the Motorsport this year due to being at work!

The only solution for me last year was to invest in both Sky Plus and NASN. It appears that NASN are again showing delayed coverage of the Craftsman Truck Series this year - the Daytona race is scheduled for the following Tuesday afternoon.

The Bud Shootout's on NASN this Sunday at 5.30 pm (the race is actually on Saturday night)

The Gatorade Twin 125s are live on NASN, Thursday 12th at 6 pm

The Busch race is live on Motors, Saturday 14th at 5 pm (preceded by the final 2003 ASA race at 3.30)

The Daytona 500 is live on NASN on Sunday 15th with preview and pre-race show from 3 pm

The Craftsman Truck race is delayed on NASN, Tuesday 17th at 1 pm (no repeats scheduled as far as I can see)

The following weekend, 21/22 Feb, the Busch and Cup races from Rockingham are live on Motors and NASN respectively.

Both series have the weekend of 28/29 Feb off, and that's as far as the published TV schedules go at the moment.

I watched Feb for free (freeview, also the channel was new & starting) last year (everything up to NC) and ordered for the year! Best thing I did was get NASN...

They even changed monday's schedule after Atlanta was rained out and show the rest of the race!

Well I was enjoying the Daytona Busch race, until it stopped.
And my parents have took over the telly....

Still, I can see myself getting into this Nascar malarkey!

McKay has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
Annoyingly my parents wont let us get sky, so does anyone here who has NASN think they can tape the Daytona 500 live and then send it to me?
