Help Required Info on BOB JONES Ampol Max 3 walkinshaw 1992
Looking for any information anyone has on photo's, history, etc on the Bob Jones Ampol Max 3 Walkinshaw, The current owner is going through the
Certificate of description process for Historic Group A at the moment. The car started life as the 2nd Beaurepairs Chris Lamden car and had all the parts transfered into it out of the Bathurst winning Brock car from 1987 after the upgraded Bathurst winner was crashed. any info, photo's, etc between 1989 and 1992 of the car as the log book with the car is the continuation book and only has its 1992 history in it. thanks in advance |

Give Bob a call
Be worth calling Bob himself.
He's very easy to get on with. Probably best to call his company - Re-car in Mulgrave (or thereabouts) and ask for him - he loves talking race cars. He's pretty busy (Re-car have quite a few branches) so he may have to talk to you out of hours but he is very approachable. |

Having owned the car for a few years and looked into the requirements of the COD there shouldn't be too much that is not correct for the 1992 spec.
Items that come to mind - - Remove the 'fat' crank. - Replace the HRT spec Morrison manifold with a Larry slide manifold. - Replace the M48 Sequential ECU with the earlier Group fired ECU. - Remove the Accusump. - Stand the Radiator back up - Install correct air intake. Once done should all be fairly close and I did spend a lot of time chasing the history including speaking to Bob Jones on numerous occasions. Hope this helps. Cheers Mark |

Your hat is perfectly safe GTR..a VL it is. And I would think Captain Peter Janson would not be amused to be shown as "Jenson"...

That may be a different car. Jones also had a Perkins built VL (Ex Noske?) which I think was run by Ker at Bathurst in green Tic Tac colours..
