Classic 2CV 24hrs BARC

Marshals of all grades are required for the Weekend of August 7th/8th/9th August for "the one and only" UK 24hr event of the year!

We have already booked the famous Snet Sun, which as those of you who have been at most Snetterton meetings this year will appreciate this means HOT!! (well hopefully!)

As those who have assisted in previous years have discovered this is a fun packed weekend, with the full support of the Classic 2cv Racing Club and BARC, combined with an action packed support race programme on the Saturday featuring MAX5's, the various Caterham classes and MG's.

This year's 24hr race runs from approx 5pm on the Sat. There will be a qualifying session on the Friday evening followed by a night practice for those of you that can come along on the Friday.

There will be planned shifts and off duty rest periods for the duration of the 24hr race and marshals will rotate round the various posts for a change of scenery!

If you can assist (even for just part of the weekend) you will be made most welcome by the Snetterton regulars. Please contact the BARC Officials Secretary Rebecca Harvey on 01264 882210or e-mail via rharvey@barc.net.

For more information on the event please see the Classic 2cv website at www.2cvracing.co.uk/

i will be there for my third as will Stephanie and James and this year for her first 24hr marshaling (will be her 5th marshaling day) is Julie. I have heard that Steph is going on post with Mandy, James will probably do assembly for the normal raceday before the 24hr and then act as runner like he did last year.

This event has to be at the top of the list for marshal friendly meetings, also the atmosphere is great.

As Terry said the ONLY 24hr race in the UK this year

Really looking forward to this-my first 24hr race. I seem to get a lot of strange looks from people when I tell them I'm doing this event but they are all from people who haven't done it-everyone who has says it's great!

Thank you Paul and to everyone involved with the Classic 2cv Racing Club for the kind invitation, which is greatly appreciated as always by the marshals after the event.

Look forward to seeing you all in August.

We would welcome any additional marshals who can assist on the Friday evening, for the evening and night practice sessions.

So if you are planning to come up for the weekend and are able to arrive on Friday during the afternoon or early evening your help would be appreciated.

It would also be extremely helpful if you could please advise Becci via rharvey@barc.net if you can do so.

Many thanks,

Terry

2009 24hr 2cv to Make Web history

Once again the 24hr 2cv race at Snetterton creates another first!! Below is a copy of the latest press release regarding this unique event;

Over the weekend of August 8/9 at Snetterton in Norfolk, the Classic 2CV Racing Club is making a small piece of motor racing history.

Not only is the club, with BARC, running the only 24hr motor race in the UK in 2009, but it is almost certainly the first race in the UK to have a world wide live webcast of the broadcast commentary, at www.2cvracing.org.uk.

Race partners Professional Motor Sport World Expo (www.professionalmotorsport-expo.com) Fine Print (www.lionpic.co.uk), Classic 2CV Racing Club, Crusader Vans, racer Nick Roads and MSV / Snetterton Circuit have all contributed to making the webcast happen.

The webcast technology is being supplied by the Radio Show Ltd, led by John Hindhaugh - well known to anyone who has been to Le Mans in the past 10 years. Check out www.radiolemans.com

This is the 19th running of this unique club motor race and the commentary team of Alan Hyde, Matt James and Lewis Beales, with expert input from club stalwart Ainslie Bousefield, will have their words broadcast across the world.

More information from Martin Harrold, 2CV racer and broadcast commentary coordinator. martinharrold@blueyonder.co.uk

I have decided to give the 24hr meeting a go, it will be my first 24hr event and also my first visit to Snetterton so quite looking forward to it.
I will be there at some point Friday afternoon (might need a hand with my tent) . Hope we have at least dry weather even if its just until the tent goes up

Thank you for your support, it will be great to have you with us and yes if you need any help there will be plenty around on Friday afternoon so don't hesitate to ask someone if need be!

Hopefully we'll meet up somewhere over the weekend.

I've posted this in other sections on Tenths, but it's worth repeating here perhaps:

The Classic 2CV Racing Club has always enjoyed being daring and different. For years the club has held the only 24hr race in the UK, but this year we've decided to really push the boat out, in celebration of 20 years since the club's first all-2CV race. This year, we're bringing the race to you, LIVE on the web!

In partnership with Radio Show Limited, the expertise behind Radio LeMans, the commentary from the circuit will be broadcast live via our website (http://www.2cvracing.org.uk). On the 8th and 9th of August, ace commentators Alan Hyde, Matt James and Lewis Beales will have their words broadcast around the world, with expert input from 2CV club stalwart Ainslie Bousfield.

And in partnership with DriveData (http://www.drivedata.com) we'll be bringing you a LIVE onboard video feed from one of the Tete Rouge cars, and a camera or two in the pitlane!

Not only that, but through our website you'll have the chance to send messages through to the commentators as the race unfolds. Get involved! Get online at www.2cvracing.org.uk - hit the "24hr LIVE" button at the top.

With just the 24hr race to go in the 2009 championship, 10 drivers are capable of winning! Out of the 8 races held so far, there have been 5 different winners, so it really is impossible to predict who will come out on top. Carl Breeze will be racing in one of the 2CVs, hoping to continue his run of success at the Norfolk track after double wins in the Ginetta G50s last weekend.

Also the club will be handing around free radios to marshals so that you can listen to the revolutionary broadcast through the wee small hours when the circuit PA goes off-air!
