Bye Bye SuperNova????
Rumors confirmed that SuperNova will not be present (99%)in Silvertone test next Tuesday and Wensday. SuperNova has missed Jerez test, and at the moment has not tested yet. Olivier Pla has tested with WorldSeries team, RC Motorsport, confirmed that his agreement with SuperNova is deleted. In my opinion the team manager David Sears is in holiday.....

Why 'bad thing' ??
Everybody has tested, exept SuperNova. Everybody has 2 driver, not SuperNova. At the moment SuperNova is the only team not confirmed in Silverstone test: is it enough? In my opinion the team is not sure to be part of 2004 Fia F3000 championship. |

SuperNova has been testing quite a bit - including at Snetterton two weeks ago.
I am sure they will be at Silverstone tomorrow (as they confirmed they would be on February 18th!), and will probably announce their drivers then. ...and based on Autosport last week I wouldn't be surprised to see Alan van de Merwe and Olivier Tielemans. |

What a relief that F3000 is beign replaced at the end of 2004. Compared to some of the impressive new championships of recent years it is expensive, outdated, disorganised, and offers little in terms of driver development. Most of the new F1 stars (other than Webber and perhaps Alonso) got hired for achievements elsewhere - sometimes after failing in F3000.
GP2 being ran away for the F1 races is a good move, because it give sthem more time on track. A good TV deal is a must, as is a good package to attract teams. For years Super Nova had no trouble running 4 cars. If they are struggling to get 2 on the track, it doesn't say a lot. |

I think "F3000" on its own is fine, it just needs to be tweaked as a package. I see no need for a new car, new engine, (and new costs); I think if they just took the GP2 format and applied it to the current F3k structure, it'd be fine.
Im at a bit of a loss as to how Super Renault V6 will fit into the GP2 picture with it being Renault affiliated and having a few Eurosport weekends. |

It's crazy, but i think F3000 is okay now: in 2004 you can found a very good seat for 500.000 euro. How can any team managers explain the request of 1 milion $ in 1999-2000-2001 for the same seat? And Mr.Sears is one of them. In F.1 weekend, some team manager use public-plane, Sears his private one.......Dear Mr.Sears, it's hard today to find drivers paing you plane.....

Well Sears is running a business, and people were/are willing to pay. I think he makes most of his money on managing drivers though, Jakobi/CSS Stellar had to pay a bit to get Montoya out of his hands

The problem of world series is that is too much near spanish context. I think that 2002 season was very good: promotion, calendar, team and driver. Last year the championship did not improve, and it looks same in 2004. F.3000 is ridiculous compared to 3-4 years ago, but at the end of the day, drivers likes to stay near F.1 paddock. I think that best championship for young drivers is F.3 Euro Series (really something different) but i understand why someone put his money in F.3000. I don't like too much RPM, they change the calendar again last week (!!) it looks amateur context, but they have everything for showing us that World Series is the best. ONE QUESTION MR.ORLEANS: WHAT ABOUT BOJA GARCIA? WILL HE DRIVE IN F.3 EURO SERIES??? WITH GHINZANI??
THANK'YOU. |

We are currently working on having Borja race in the Euroseries with Ghinzani. Just a few points need to be ironed out.

Yes David has got his own share in a plane - he uses it to get to the continental races but it also does charter work in the week to help pay for the thing which he runs as a seperate business. He once told me that Richard Branson hired it to take him to a meeting in Brussels. Perhaps all of his Virgin planes were busy!

I read somewhere that Van Der Merwe was apparently sizing up a drive? If they ain't running, clearly not the case then! |
