can someone please out line the main reasons why BTCC was reduced to ten meetings. is it for financial reasons?

In short, yes. Teams felt they could better budget for the year with only ten meetings.

Wasn't there also a problem with lower attendances at the tracks where the championship visited twice. The attendance for the second meeting was always consistently lower than the first?

all to do with cost i think, think about going to knockhill then to brands!! and then going all round the country to the same place a few times... it would cost a lot to keep on convoying to each track. then theres the running cost when they are there too....

Matthopps has a good point, I can remember Richard West saying it would help make the races "big events", so as locals got one chance, instead of saying we'll go later in the year and at the end not bothering.

would it be better to go to each track in order of the journey route from top to bottom?

i.e. start @ brands and work up to knockhill etc

not really because teams return to their base after each meeting and they would have to travel back wherever.
