MIRA - SBD British Sprint Championship Rd 7
What a cracking run-off. Very tight battle up front which finally went to Tony Eyles on the last run. Battles all down the order in the run-off and with some "interesting" results in the classes.
Top Twelve: 1. Tony Eyles (2.5 Force-Opel V6) 41.87 2. Martin Dowling (3.5 Reynard-Judd V8) 42.09 3. Tony Wiltshire (2.0 Ralt-Peugeot) 42.53 4. Terry Holmes (2.0 Reynard-Cosworth) 44.11 5. Steve Broughton (1.3 OMS-Suzuki) 44.40 6. Jim Yardley (1.6 Beagle-Honda) 44.86 7. Dave Sims (2.0 Ralt-Duratec) 44.94 8. Kevin Lealan (2.0 FVL) 45.71 9. Phil Lynch (2.0 Ralt-Alfa Romeo) 45.73 10. Simon Ashby (2.0 Reynard-Millington) 46.42 11. Tracey Ashby (2.0 Reynard-Millington) 47.63 DNS - Andrew Platt (2.0 Dallara-Vauxhall) Hamish Lindsay in his 500 Jedi took the 1100 Racing Car class and was 14th fastest qualifier for the run-off! Dick Hulbert took the Up to 2 litre Mod Prod Kit Car class in the 1700 Vauxhall powered Westfield and would have squeezed into the run-off if he had been registered! Finally the Michelin Porsche runners had a whale of a time with Colin Belton in the 993 RSR running out the overall winner. Simon Butterworth's Boxer left looking decidedly second hand after a quick roll as he exited the last corner! |
