Clipsal 500

Is this the future of V8 Supercars? This 4 day carnival of motorsport has to be the biggest event of the year!
The organisers of the Clipsal 500 need a big thumbs up. I'm glad I am heading over to Adelaide for the week. The action just doesn't stop. V8 supercars, Konica's, NC, Brute Utes, GT Performance, F3, Group N, Saloon & Karts. the action just doesn't stop. More than enough categories to keep you interested even if you have lost faith in the main event.

I'll take 4 days at Bathurst anytime , and as for the biggest event of the year there's other sporting events that leave it for dead.

Isn't Hindley Street the main event.

The racing had better be outstanding as I can still taste the residue of last years bile

I hope it isn't the future of V8Supercars

The other thing is the support racing out does the main event.

Good one Bomn

If the support races at Bathurst are run anything like last years disaster, well, it will be....another disaster

Maybe Melbourne could take a leaf out of Adelaides book and run a "Speed Week" just like Bathurst of old. That would ease Racetimes blood pressure by allowing longer race formats for all the other F1 supports (including the V8 Supercars )

I`ve heard alot of good things about Adelaide and maybe they are all true,But I think if you heald the 1st round of the championship at Wakefield espeacialy after the silly season that we are having(new model cars, new liveries driver changes)you would get a bumper crowd and good tv.Not to take anything away from the event I wish I could go one day......

toploader!

you have got to be dreaming!!!! have you ever left NSW? the Wakefield track is a great club track...FULLSTOP! The Adelaide track held the best GP, in the world that is!!! And now is easily the best race program, setup, for spectators and drivers alike.... even those dyed in the wool supporters of Bathurst would agree that the mountain is a second class citizen compared to what is avaliable for the average fan in Adelaide!!!

The first round of the championship has nothing to do with it!As we all see the "new" colours etc at the GP.... Crikey, the GP only just out polls the crowd figures from last years Clipsal!!

get to Adelaide, and be amazed that it is all there just for the V8s....

We get Australian F3 (30 minute highlights/round) all the way up here on the other side of the Earth! So it must be televised down with you, surely?

Ummmm....a bumper crowd and good TV ,I think that sounds like Adelaide....I very much doubt Goulburn could stage an event like the Clipsal. Back to the padded cell on Monday ,toploader?

At least while they're picking on you Toploader, they're leaving me alone. LMAO.
I think that Wakefield Park will be a good race though, but as far as Facilities etc and atmosphere it won't be anywhere like Adelaide.

Yes 69, that is the one good thing about it. Having street circuits does nothing for motorsport. Adelaide and Surfers can only be raced on once a year. Where do drivers practice, on proper circuits of course. Putting money into Adelaide Street circuit does nothing for motorsport in that state.

CB, As usual I have trouble putting thoughts on to paper. When I refer to the 'future of V8 supercar' I was trying to emphasise a choka blok weekend of various, competitive & entertaining categories. A weekend where your not waiting around watching the clock for the main event but remain glued to your seat for the entire weekend.

Whilst we are on the topic of the Clipsal 500, who shall be attending?

I have had my flights booked since last year. Which means I will be getting out of Adelaide Sunday night.

I will be arriving on the Wednesday and still haven't worked out who I will be representing or working for.

Needless to say I will be doing something at the event, and yes Drinking counts as something.

Gee let`s all have a heart attack.1 I was just using Wakefield as an eg,And like 69er said atleast Wakefield is a circuit and as soon as Adelaide`s bottom line starts turning from black to red(Canberra ring any bells)we will see if the road or street circuit is the better option long term, for general week in week out use.Once again I still would like to go there..

I'll be there, haven't missed one since '99. Hopefully it'll be a better race than last year, which apart from the last 20 laps of race 2 was a dead procession basically.

Does anyone know if Ford are still running those afterburner parties?

I can't wait.
We finish racing on Friday night, so do not have to behave and up at the crack of dawn on Sat/Sun. This should be the best one yet.

I'm there with bells on. I'm working on site for the two weeks leading up to the race. I have all the race days free then work for the week after the race. ITs going to be huge!
