I doubt the Seat is making up time on the infield quite a bit! Might be a different story come the race when they are in traffic.

Though it looks predictable, a very last minute steal from Turner to snatch pole from Giovanardi.

Hell of a qualifying result for Murray - would be a just reward for that team if they could get some good results or even a podium after the disaster at Brands...

Turkington's been sent to the back of the grid, car failed a weight check procedure. Means Murray's up to 5th, and there should be some good action with Jones and Colin climbing back up the field.

Well done to Murray. I hope too he has a smooth running weekend, he could well come out of the weekend with several strong results.
Hopefully every driver will behave themselves, and doesn't end up in the wall at Turn 1. |

Excellent stuff from Murray. Is it just a lack of funds causing the team to have so many failures?
Two quick cars at the back of the grid bodes well. Halfords are roughly where you'd expect this time. Good to see the Motorbase guys evenly matched again. It's getting clear that the guys from Blanckney back to Kerry will be the back-markers - none of them have a great deal on their side. |

Just back from the track, excellent day
Fantastic drive from Murray, funding does seem to be the main issue - basically if the car takes any serious damage they don't have the money to get it back running, so one big accident and that's his weekend over. I feel sorry for Turkington, the DQ was because his car wouldn't start after a weight check. On the commentary some of the drivers were saying the right things about being sensible through Turn 1, so hopefully cool heads will prevail. Not holding my breath on that one though.... |

You call that quick? 36.5 seconds around Rockingham is quick (on Avons!)
I'd love to see these things on the Oval - that'd be a hoot! Though I will say that Matt has always been quick - he deserves a works drive! |

An interesting day at the Rock, I feel sorry for Colin from what I understand his engine failed to fire at the wight check. I saw him just after he got back to garage and he didn't look happy. If you are going along tomorrow I would suggust you get there early. I had un-confirmed reports today that they have sold 40,000 tickets for race day.

I fear that the front drive cars' tyres would explode after a number of laps at full speed on the oval though.

Is it not related to safety, that the car should be able to start without any outside assistance ?

Still daft that you can be DQ'd for that. Surely merely rectifying the problem would suffice...
Big shame for Darren Turner as well, his pole is wasted with a non-starting car! |

That oil-slick caused interest - most of the top ten went off to varying degrees. Real shame for Turner as he would have added a bit more interest to what was a mostly quiet race. At least we had Onslow-Cole on hand to run into about 3 people and brighten things up!

Wow, Leggate's blown motor caused some havoc there. Did the marshalls even show an oil flag? Seems quite an oversight that...
Dull race overall though. Race 2 will be better hopefully! |

*sigh*
Just get rid of one of those bollards, this will save a lot of problems. |

The tyre bollard/wall things are necessary from a point of view of stopping people continually having all four wheels off the track (we have these wall things at Knockhill as well - try heading towards one at speed in a legend - it's taller than you are!) but they should probably just afix them to the ground - you try to cut the course, you damage your car. Would save them ending up in the middle of the road all the time, certainly.

yep even though I am consigned to the live timing screen and the chat for all the info, I could tell it was a boring race. I said about lap 4, Gio's won this one..! |
