Rache should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Who went to Goodwood?

Just got back from 3 days at Goodwood Fest of Speed, never been before and it was fab! Weather was perfect, luvvely and sunny, we got a good seat on one of the (free) grandstands and just sat and enjoyed the show.

Highlights of the weekend were seeing Stirling Moss in the flesh, and the F1 cars - AND ESPECIALLY that Renault F1 People Carrier....Id LOVE to roll up to Asda in one of those!

The Wacky Racers cars were fab too!!

I did - brilliant as ever. I'll try to get some images up soon. It's definately getting busier though isn't it. I might start trying to go on a friday - what's it like on Fridays?

Well it was wet this year! Which was dissapointing for me as I only managed to go on friday. But I think it is usually much less crowded so the best time to get around the paddocks.

We went down on the Saturday only this year, unlike the previous 5yrs when it's been a full weekend. As always the variety of cars and the sights and sounds were excellent, but unfortunately the secret is out & the visitor numbers mean it's not as easy to see things in places.

I went this weekend to. I went for the full weekend as I got (free ) tickets off a friend of mine. I thought the entire Weekend was fantastic, the only low point being the heavy rain on late Friday afternoon. The RAF Jet (can't remember the name of it right now, not the Red Arrows) display was especially memorable.

I took loads of shots, but most of them seam to have been 'eaten' by my digital camera , got some nice F1 shots though.

so if anybody puts up some pics a 'heads up' would be appreciated.

That BMW X5 with the LeMans engine would be better because except for the huge rear exhaust pipes it looks almost 'normal', but yet sounds amazing, goes like mad and is still 4 wheel drive.Beating all the nobs in WRX's etc at lights would be a special moment.

IF you want to avoid the crowds I would recommend pre buying tickets for the Sunday, no ticket sales on the gate mean that the day can get 'sold out' and so there aren't as many people, this year Sunday was noticeably quieter.

I went on the Saturday only and I agree with you that the visitor numbers were up on normal for this day. Perhaps it is because of the fickle British weather...you can just turn up on the Sat and buy a ticket on the gate ( unlike Sunday). With a glorious weekend forecast many people probably decided to go at the last minute?
The dragster burnouts were good but these were only 'baby' dragsters ( despite having 11 litre engines and 2000bhp ) . Hope they get a top fueller for a demo next year - 6000bhp and louder than any car you have ever heard!
If you have not been to the September Goodwood Revival at the circuit just down the road from the house - GO!!! Far better than the Festival in my opinion. You have to pinch yourself that you have not gone back in a time machine.
The best historic race meeting by far - real cars in a real setting.

I was there just for the Friday. There was comp in the Times that I entered and received 2 free tickets. They had 10,000 to give away which might have increased attendance.

The highlight for me was standing next to the Eagle Westlake V12 when they fired it up. Must admit I spent more time in the paddocks than watching the track.

Friday was the best for paddock day definitely. Sunday was as busy as Saturday! I'd like to go to the Revivial Meeting but don't you have to dress in 1940s costume, and they ban trainers and baseball caps?

Not good to wer your posh stuff in September knowing our Brit weather!!!

No Rache, you don't HAVE to dress up and you can wear trainers! You just can't get into the paddock unless suitably dressed but can get into the infield. Loads of people turn up dressed as they do for any other meeting but many leave wishing they had made an effort!
Go, you will love it! Its fantastic.
P.S. Great city Norwich. There most weekends when not racing.
