Is it the Mallock/Edwards car from '77?

Silverstone

Don't think anyone is saying otherwise Simon.. are they ? i was 701 kg with me in the car.. dry.. for the races (we added weight for the race) to be 600kg for the races as i had it all wrong thinking it was 575 weight limit. the t296 car was heavy as we all know.. 15kg above the limit.. so me and ed were without doubt up there at the heavy end of the grid with the drivers aboard. Ed drove brilliantly as i told him at the time.. as did JB and others.. it was a pleasure to race against him and it will be again at Brands and Oulton (i hate Oulton.. but that is due to a massive crash in 2005). all the cars were pretty original to be fair as they have to be don't they ?..

PS.. Allen weight is everything when we only pull around 290bhp.. a T296 is probably the best car to have for the series as they raced as they were so good beyond the bulk of the cars there. i think weight is a issue, but at silverstone aero played a big part. all good fun and it was a lorra fun !!

No the Edwards/ Mallock /Craft "Ultramar" car was there for Friday testing but was put away ready for CER at Spa.
The 296 is a great car and not necessarily heavy - we have to run 30kgs of ballast to come up to 600kgs for CER.
Remember a 296 is a 1977 car compared to "vintage" B19 from 1971.

It was a good start for a new series, just fed up that the B19 was not working properly - need to find out why before the next outing!
