You'd think they would have learned after the less than stellar races on the short course at Abu Dhabi. So, they've eliminated two of the three best overtaking points on the full circuit, and I really don't see any good ones created from using the short course.

This is disappointing.

Agreed. How long is the short course? 2 miles? Frustrating as there are sooooo many places they would put on a better show.

Have to agree here, they've deleted several passing opportunities.

the nice thing about V8's unlike F1, they can muscle their way through when passing... lol

I'd love to work this event as a marshal, wonder who will be running the event

Another ding batt choice made by the morons running this series.
Run the whole track or dont run it at all.

it does seem pointless to not showcase the whole track as it is very new. the short version just doesn't cut the mustard, especially seeing as the supercars will more than likely put on a better show than F1 !

The ALMS race at Laguna Seca was moved up to May 11th, so there is no conflict with that.

have you watched qualifying for the 500 before? It is not 'only' qualifying, particularly for those trying to make the field on the Sunday (just ask Ryan Hunter-Reay)....

Very true

For half the V8 weekend though all the attention will be on Charlotte looking towards the following weekends World 600..... where does the V8 event fit in exactly (do they still want any US involvement in it?)

This is the Australian V8 Supercar series. Not the AUstralian, American, etc series. Leave the US drivers do what they do best, and not get them involved in this. Hasnt there been enough US drivers try to drive V8 supercars and in the main have failed.

I'm pretty sure the 'Australian' portion of the series' full name was dropped a few years ago...

isn't there an identical series in the Middle East using left hand drive re-badged Chevy Lumina's?

That series does (or did, not sure which) exist but they're a LONG way from identical. Very much like production cars, the middle east ones.

Mr Revhead has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
To be fair the track hasn't been raced on, so might still prove to be a good on for the V8s.
Possibly it's to do with circuit length?
Saw today that the Yas Marina circuit has the longest lap time of the series now. 700m shorter than Bathurst but slower average speed.
Maybe they feel that the cars coming past every 2+ minutes isn't suitable?

That's the reason NASCAR skips the boot at Watkins Glen International... more grandstand time
