Gillian Goldsmith (nee Fortescue-Thomas) has always been quick, but Joy and now Sue Young have both shown the ability to push a proper single seater to very respectable times.

Not forgetting Patsy Burt; she had several outright FTD's in her time. (Maybe I'm the only one old enough to have heard of her!)

Not quite, whilst this does make you quite old, at least two of the old buffers can remember Faye Taylour!! One of them even claims to have seen her racing at both Shelsley and Brooklands. Love Abigail

The old buffers will also tell you that Patsy gave her name to the timing strut when it first appeared. Was known as the Burt strut.
She was a very dedicated hillclimber and appeared at many continental hillclimbs.
Shame I never saw the Patsy Burt Garages McLarens in their heyday.
I last saw her at Shelsley in 2001 I think it was just before she died. A charming lady who was always ready to talk and pass the time of day.

Thanks for the info on the strut Fireblade. One more thing to check before I go to the line - hair, lipstick, nails and 'Is my Burt on straight?'

Would like to have seen Patsy drive. I seem to remember she was due to do a demonstraton run at Shelsley but was not well enough.

Lol,Tyke.
Anyone can have it on straight before a run.
The idea is to have it still affixed and straight at the end of the run. I am led to believe that Ken Sims is investigating having a rubber one made.

He's given up on the idea of a rubber timing strut Fireblade...
We gotta make all the scenery out of rubber instead and put a big nail in the right hand pedal to stop him pressing it too hard...
