The ads and colours of that 911 point to John Greasley, but for this pic I’m not 100% certain if Greasley is the pictured driver…

morning gents, i would go with it being a Greasley car definitely. the number may well indicate that its Colin Howard behind the wheel. in the dim grey depths of my memory i seem to recall him running a Porsche. not 100% sure though

At least the 911 has a Bose Hifi starting number, as used for many a year at Valkenswaard.

John Clark, I think 1983, Greasley always ran number 123, Rolf Nilsson used Greasleys 4x4 bi-turbo 935 in 1984 GP if I remember rightly Chunder.

Quite right, the car went of the line, missed the turning for tumbledown and coasted to a halt at the bottom of paddock hill bend....................

GM! should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Sorry folks, your all way off the mark.

The number 69 was used by Colin Richards. I didn't think it would be Colin Howard as I used to see Colin a lot and never remember him having a Porsche, so I have just rung him. Colin H confirms it's Richards, he built the car himself so it's not from the Greasley stable, and the reason it has a white bonnet is because at some point Howard had been leading Richards coming off Chessons and in the chalk dust Richards enbedded the front of the Porsche in the door of Howards Escort - something Colin H remembers well! To make matters worse, as they sorted themselves out and still going at speed the first thing Richards sees as they emerge from the dust and hit the tarmac is the banking apporaching at a high rate of knots - something Colin R remembers well!

Bill, the rear wheel-arch is from a Greasley Porsche and the Dage sticker shows some cooperation anyway. Therefore, I think that 911 had at least some Greasley stuff used.
Do I remember correctly that Colin Richards went to Florida later, before Jeeta and John Smith did so?

And in February 1985 Rolf "Myggan" Nilsson together with Paris-Dakar winner René Metge used Greasley’s 4WD Porsche to do the 24h of Chamonix ice race in France.

apologies for being slightly misleading gents. unfortunately due to variuos moves and a fair bit of time spent away from RX a lot of my reference material has gone missing and the 'old grey matter' aint what it used to be. one thing i do remember though is seeing JG taking off like a scalded cat at Wimbledon during a RX vs Super Rods team event, on the shale. the porsche got away a hell of a lot better than the capris that he was up against. the capris used to run there on a fairly regular basis.

didnt J Clark usually run in the green and yellow of Weatons? thats all i remember he running in - maybe wrong - again ha ha ha

Yes, it does look very Greasleyish so it may well have started life as a Dage car but CH insisted that Richards had built the car himself. Maybe he aquired the shell from JG and prepared the rest himself?

I think your are right about CR going to Florida at some point - rings a bell somewhere.

Yes, JC ran in the Weatons colours. I was lucky enough to be invited to try out his Porsche at Brafield Stadium. It was one of the first to be turbocharged in British rallycross and proved quite a handful on the mud - for me anyway! John had just taken over running the oval circuit and was busy adding an extension to it so they could run rallycross events. Page 104 of my Drive It! book has a good photo of the car taken that day - me driving, sorry John!

Struggie, was the front diff of this 911 also an LSD from a BMW 2002? If so, was it mounted upside down?

BTW, I still have the feeling the pic was taken at the 'Daytonabocht' to 'Tarzanbocht' section of the Eurocircuit at Valkenswaard.

The picture was at the bottom of hairy hill at Lydden (?) or coming off of the top circuit on to the bottom straight at brands,
i believe the diff was from a renault along with the brakes. The drive from the rear gearbox was just a direct take off the front on the box (EG another pinion(done by Quaife i believe)

Colin Richards is alive and well living in the states. Racing jet skis and doing well at it winning a couple of age group championships.I'm in contact with him most weeks via the net and he's OK.

John and Jeeta live in Kissimmee, just a stone throw away from Disney World Florida.

They came sometimes to Germany to visit us, but for the last couple of years I did not see them anymore.

However, found Jeeta (as well as their daughter Dolly, who lives in Chicago now) back via Facebook about half a year ago:
