OVERSTEER should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
2CV Racing and 24hr 2CV Racing

I've also posted this in the racers forum:

I have recently seen an article in a magazine (I can't recall the name of the mag) about the easiest and cheapest ways to compete in motorracing, someone suggested that 2CV racing was cheapest and they suggested that one of the 24hr races (I understand these run at Mondello, Snetterton and Spa Mainly) could cost about £800-£1000 per driver and that all you need is the relevent licence and basic racing gear (Helmet, suit, and boots).
If anyone here could confirm this information as being correct or could give me the correct information, links to relevent websites would be useful, I ask this because this article really sparked my interest in possibly competing in the next few years, I would be grateful if if anyone could help me, Ian

The obvious place to look would be http://www.2cvracing.co.uk

Ian,

There is only 1 x 24hr race each year. In previous years it has been held at Mondello Park but is due to run at Snetterton this year. They also do "Enduro" races which probably last about 2hrs.

You could perhaps secure a seat with a team for that sort of money but this may not be the best way to start your racing career - biggest problem I find with novice drivers is concentration and driving for hour long (or longer) stints usually takes some building up to.

Also, perhaps most teams would not want to take on a novice in their driver lineup for such a race (i.e. team race). I don't want to put you off completely but just suggesting that it's perhaps not the best place to start.

There are opportunities to race for less money (buy drives + entry fees) - it is the sort of thing I often advise on/help with - drop me a mail or a PM if your interested and I'll see what I can suggest.

Maxx

Oversteer, if you contact a user called 2CVracer he can give you more info. Whilst the "serious" teams would probably not need drivers, the 24 hour 2CV race does attract temporary teams - usually for charity - and these teams may be interested in taking on drivers if they can pay their own way, so it's certainly worth asking the question. Hope this helps.

2cv's

as a racer myself in (but not in a 2cv)race meetings where the 2cv's were present it was really good to see both really close racing and a really friendly and helpfull attitude in the paddock, i can whole heartedly recomemd taking part. I know for a fact that a 24hour 2cv race is planned at snetterton mid june.
more info may be found at www.barc.net

2CV drivers are the most fun of any group I've ever met. It's not often you see an entire car being rebuilt in the middle of the night and 3 or 4 other teams bailing in to assist with parts, expertise, tea and sympathy! A really nice group of people (except for 2CVracer of course! )

LOL, Smokey, suggest that may not be the most desirable residence, particular come June when they let all those biddy little French cars on track for 24 hours - your bound to get a few visitors

Oh yes, I think it'll be my highlight of the season (unless I win in Minis or something!).

Remember to cheer on a certain black Cheveaux with flourescent green wheels - isn't that right Maxx?

I have a soft spot for Stinky, I'll admit it. I drove her last year at Silverstone
