Splatz should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid

Jason Bright will drive for Panoz in the third car at Adelaide LeMans. This was confirmed in Auto Action magazine.
Driver Mark Noske lost his seat when his team, which was due to run the Panoz with the main team, withdrew support for the event. The team Prancing Horse Racing runs a Ferrari 360 for Noske in a two car team in Australia's Nation's Cup. The team will concentrate instead on expanding its team. Sponsership and contractual problems were also understood to be part of the problem.

Jason Bright is a Bathurst champion and ran Indy Lights with Dorricott this year, finishing on the podium a number of times. He debuted in CART champcars at the Gold Coast Indy this year running as high as fifth before making contact with Max Papis resulting in a DNF.

Bright will run the third Panoz (2000 spec car) with Kiwi Greg Murphy.

Just to add some background to all this...

Bright won a Lights race at Portland and finally ended up 6th in the championship. He also finished 2nd with Paul Radisich at Bathurst 1000 this year and has signed to drive with Holden Racing Team in the Shell Championship Series in 2001 (touring cars if you don't know). His crash with Papis wasn't really his fault either, Papis slowed instead of just going past the accident of Moreno.

Greg Murphy, also a driver in the Shell Championship Series and finished 3rd at the Bathurst 1000 this year was signed up for the drive after Craig Lowndes ran into contractual difficulties with his former employer, HRT.

Recent testing showed that both were quickly at a decent pace and should run well in the Race of 1000 Years in a couple of weeks time.

well we started with Craig lowndes and Mark Noske and have ended up with Jason bright and greg Murphy...both very good drivers and i think "Murph" may surprise a few people as this is finally his big chance to prove he is capable of running with the best in the world.

Im glad jason has landed the drive to at least keep a grip on an overseas venture..he should do very well too.

where will they finish??

top 10 easy in my books ..podium ..possibly a little out of reach but they have the car that is capable so we will have to wait and see.

Thank you for adding that info elephino.

Brighty has certainly had a great start to his career.

You knew his backround pretty well, are you an Aussie by any chance?

Splatz, as has been inferred, I am an aussie. Unfortunately I won't be able to make Adelaide this year. I've even interviewed him.

gomick, US FFord 2000. There is a difference

Hmm I thought gomick meant: Go, Mick (Doohan)
Is this right?

Are you a driver in US FFord?

Hmmm, Splatz's brain is struggling today

Its 12.35 (midnight) in Adelaide now, and about 30 degrees. About 35 in my house. Too hot.

Oh, hah, I feel silly now. Well we could pretend gomick drives US FFord, anyway.

A new career for you gomick! It will probably be all over the forum tomorrow....

"US Formula Ford driver, and 10 tenths forum regular, Gomick, is to test a Minardi in late December.......!
