It’s 3.7 litres and is designated ‘Cyclone’ by Ford. Could well be the same basic unit as the Duratec of course, but I was told American in origin.....

320bhp and 370bhp per tonne! I tried one at Snetterton and it is a very quick car.....

EDIT- Cyclone engine is also called Duratec for some markets. The 3.7 litre was / is used in the Ginetta G60, as well as the Ford truck and Mustang mentioned! I think the last may now use a different V6, but that’s another story.....

I think the 3 litre Jag V6 engine was based on the "original" V6 Duratec. Was used in the Morgan V6 Roadster road and race car

The Ginetta G50 used a 3.5 litre derivative, of the original Duratec V6 I think.

The 3.7 litre Cyclone/ Duratec is a different engine, I read, and is used in the G55 and the Morgan ARV6 race (only) car.

The Ginetta G60 was not a success and production was canned after only a relatively few were made. Last I saw, the whole G60 project was for sale on RCD.

As an aside, it may not have been noticed by the historic racing fraternity, but BookaTrack, the well known track day company, and Caterham Midlands sales franchise (at Donington Park) has been sold to Ginetta. BookaTrack is selling off all its Caterham bits and pieces and replacing its track day fleet of Caterhams with Ginetta G40s. The current Caterham showroom at Donington is to be turned over to a Ginetta race car show case.

No apology needed, mon ami! Here’s the nicest one- standard body rather than ‘lowline’ Super Sports version that the red one has....

Thats a nice colour for a Morgan, Mike. What engine is in that?
Always fancied a 2 litre Fiat Twin Cam engined one, myself. A bit different!

It’s an FIA +4 (1959) so uses usual TR4 lump. It’s not a Morgan colour, so probably unique... The car was restored as a race car many moons ago by Wykeham’s when they were dealers. The man himself raced and toured it. It got the odd high finish in Tour Auto amongst other good results....

Agree that for road use the Fiat TC engined car was a nice spec! Considerably better than the 1.6 litre Ford CVH that was used for a short while.....

Interesting, wonder what Caterham did to upset that market?

I understand that Ginetta made the BookaTrack owner a good offer, and he had other business interests to attend to, which potentially offer longer term benefits/ security so was happy to sell. Ginetta were happy for BookaTrack to continue as Caterham agents as they saw the 7s as good "entry" cars for their own front engine GT racers, and their "racing ladder", however, Caterham were not so keen and insisted on the split.

Anyone remember when historic meant VSCC club meetings and the occasional Yeoman Credit races at the GP meetings and maybe big sportscar races such as the 1000kms etc?

I've got photos from the late 80's at Spa when the majority of the cars at the Summer Festival were MGBs and Lotus', with a few Jaguars (some replicas) thrown in.

Now there are vehicles ranging from the humble "B" to Cobras Ferraris, Astons of all eras and of course more Lotus Cortinas that you can shake that proverbial stick at. Club racing? It is all essentially Historics these days.

Good example is Ludovic Lindsay. I first met him in the early eighties pedalling various "old cars" at VSCC meetings with his father's ERA and other vehicles. Now he's all over the major events in varying cars all of which are quite valuable.

Of course the value of the vehicles means they need to be maintained at considerable expense. Hence we now have "teams" rather than individual drivers.
Thats why ive chosen it as a career to get into now with teams cropping up left right and centre.Anyway i dont wa t to work on a modern BTCC or F1 car .

Yes I understand your point entirely. What it does mean is that individuals like me will be out of it soon. I don't have my own engineering shop/garage thus no access to the facilities.

It’s easier to fit a carb scoop on a car with standard bodywork, as it is a few cm deeper than the Super Sports body....

Wahou, had to read twice to spot the difference… Is Gaël's a Super Sport, I dunno… Clean and fast as she is, must be GB prepared.

Talking about preparers, I watched Car SOS, the Capri RS episode. At last someone got a bargain from a certain Whitegate Garage!

Most obvious difference is the gap between door and windscreen frame...

Well done, John, thanks a lot. Lets make profit with double-declutch, soon very few will know what we're talking about… Did you see "they" have some LHD Escorts over there. In one of the last images, Mexico-Iain-red/yellow, you can see they do use the rear view mirrors during the race.
Back in the day, may be '75, the best Escort Grp2 we saw was a KWS pedaled by Jean Louis Schlesser. Hard to catch!

Mike, the detail makes the thing obvious, thanks to you. The difference must be around 1" or slightly more may be? If you intend to write a book "Morgans for the dumb", pictures by bauble, you've already at least one client…

See the focus on Iain's car? Right behind him, the white one seems to have an optimized front track. My screen may be…

With bauble still around, all photographers will seem under rated, John! When I use to write about classics, I always tried to go out with the same photographer. No good view, no good point of view…

I’d agree about being under-rated. Some excellent shots! Gerard, the green and yellow ‘BP’ car was one of the ‘Works’ Escorts, LVX947J, raced in Belgium by Claude Borgoigne and Yvette Fontain for one season, I believe. That’s Yvette posing with the car. It was then raced in the UK by Gerry Birrell before being sold off by Ford.....

I see for the "belgian" Escort. They had several fast ladies, Yvette Fontaine as you say (often associated with Claude Bourgoignie) and "Christine" alias Beckers driving sometimes with frenchman Roger Dubos.

If I'm right, you told me you use a BD engine on carbs, right? Your front valance is clean, while many others use a "swiss cheese" style unit. Is this homologated or free style? In principle, the regs state that you can modify this part of the body only under an imaginary line joining the center of the wheels if I'm correct.

Yvette's car is actually a replica of her race car; she also has a Capri which she has had built-up. I had a long conversation with her at the Antwerp show a year or two ago - she is a most delightful lady. She has also recently published her biography.
