HUNGARORING CLASSIC (Peter Auto)

Peter Auto return to Budapest for a second visit. In 2017 the grids weren't huge, but everyone who did attend enjoyed the event, especially the saturday evening Danube floating restaurant supper....

Doesn’t appear to be many from the UK making the trip to Budapest, but in case anyone is still prevaricating, there is space in the truck for another small to medium size race car and a limited amount of spares....

Hopefully the grids aren't to small.

Have been watching the previous livestream of the event.

The circuit people are very enthusiastic and helpful, but it’s a long haul from the UK. Not so bad if you’re based in Germany or France, obviously.

Guess the grids will be smaller than last two PA events, but possibly bigger than some other organisers recent meetings!

Start with M ?

Sad fact really.

Even if they were to lose half the entries in they're core series they'd still have more than Masters, and they claim to be the leading promoter. Not anymore I don't think...

Still a great organisation Masters though,F1 the main reason

That's a circuit still to do on my list. look forward to hearing all about the trip Mike. We have very nearly got to travel same distance to Anglesey.

From several competitors words last year it seems there's a lack of grip there. Many soften the suspension settings but not all. What do I know?

It will probably feel similar, but at least no tolls for you! (From here, 350m or 1170m......)

Provisional entry lists just released to competitors, and over 40 cars in 60s, 37 in CER1 and 29 in HTC. That’s more than last visit 2yrs ago. GpC not so good- 9......

Not sure on grip level, Gerard, as not driven a lap there! Do remember the ‘motorway’ from Austria to Budapest being hideously bumpy, and restricted to 80kph for trucks, though.

Yes, I’m not sure why GpC are going to Hungary, but not to Dijon, for instance. Last time they were at the latter circuit was when the Lola T92/10 was briefly racing. The sound of the Judd V10 on the straight was mind blowing. What an engine......

Very odd that no entries put up.I wonder why.

I wonder if they will be livestreaming the event again as it was very good last time?

It’s all very quiet compared with Dijon, where we had update after update....

On the PA website is a layout map for the meeting, and it includes an area marked ‘TV Broadcasting’. https://peterauto.peter.fr/en/hungar...2/hungaroring/

What is not so good to see is the ‘Racing Team Camion parking’ about as far from the paddock as it could be! I remember they suggested that my truck should park there last time, but eventually after some heated discussion it was behind a box....

The meeting info including entry lists is now on the PA website....

https://peterauto.peter.fr/en/hungaroring-classic-2/

Appears they are trying to organise a parade of race cars into Budapest for one evening. Would guess Friday or Thursday, but they want the drivers to wear period clothing, so I can see the idea falling very flat..... Goody Revival it isn’t

Didn't think a 917 would ever race in Hungary.Worth the event returning with that one car.

Only 15 minutes to go in 60s Quali with a Ford Shelby Mustang at the front.Very unusual.Haven't heard of the drivers either.

"The" 26R and the SLR are very close. Interesting… I guess the Carrera GTS/6 is a really good one Mike?

Qually was wet! SLR went well and finished ahead of all 26Rs.... P1 in U2.5 category, and P2 GT3- beaten by Big Healey that is always quicker in the wet.

Gerard, the 904/6 man used to race a 911 in 60s, but has upgraded! Fortunately it’s classed as a Proto so shouldn’t be of concern, unless of course the rules change.....

And for those that didn’t make the trip, here’s something you’re missing. Now edited so pic is not on it’s side.....
