So what kind of clothing did you chose for the parade, Mike? Seems any fancy dress entitles you to have a nice parking place for the truck!

Is that how it works, Gerard!

I went into Budapest centre tonight, but not as part of the parade. If the traffic was as bad as when we drove in they would need the promised police escort to clear a way through, or risk overheated engines and burnt out clutches....

Anyway, we have a very convenient location for the truck, behind a box and within easy walking distance of both cars. Did a couple of laps on my scooter and now wish I was racing!

Only 15 minutes to go in 60s Quali with a Ford Shelby Mustang at the front.Very unusual.Haven't heard of the drivers either.

"The" 26R and the SLR are very close. Interesting… I guess the Carrera GTS/6 is a really good one Mike?

Qually was wet! SLR went well and finished ahead of all 26Rs.... P1 in U2.5 category, and P2 GT3- beaten by Big Healey that is always quicker in the wet.

Gerard, the 904/6 man used to race a 911 in 60s, but has upgraded! Fortunately it’s classed as a Proto so shouldn’t be of concern, unless of course the rules change.....

And for those that didn’t make the trip, here’s something you’re missing. Now edited so pic is not on it’s side.....

I told Mrs E you asked that, Will, and got a ‘look’. So you'd better watch out at Monza!

I’ve worked out why the promised forecast of high 20s and sun has gradually deteriorated. (We had rain not forecast yesterday during qualifying, and it’s likely to be only 19 deg and showers, with possible thunder, all day today.)

Before leaving home, to make the truck more comfortable to be in in the heat, I bought two electric cooling fans......

The organisers put a lot into this meeting, and there are lots of clubs and displays that I need to get round. Sadly, as is often the case, they lost money two years ago and are likely to do the same again, so whether we return is questionable. A shame if that is the case, as it’s a great location, and Budapest is a fantastic city!

Oh, almost forgot, I spent 1/2 hour being interviewed by a video crew yesterday about transporting to the meeting and the truck itself. Hopefully it won’t get aired at any point.....

While it’s quiet, a view along the row of trucks behind the boxes. One was parked the wrong way round on Thursday, but either guilt took over or the team got told to turn it round!

Does not look nice.

Are tents that Peter Auto use for most conpetitors more popular than awnings.Better for spectators I think.

Certainly the grids are better in most cases than last time.

I also note that they were allowed to put fingerprints on the car.....that would not have impressed Mrs E either......surprisingly enough the 2 drivers do not seem to be reprimanding them!!!

Didn't think a 917 would ever race in Hungary.Worth the event returning with that one car.

For rotary fans- this car on display was built for German Interserie in the early 90s. Sadly the builder passed away fairly soon after completion, but it is now owned by his brother, and has been rebuilt over 4 yrs. It runs a very rare 3 rotor Mazda engine, one of only 50 ever made?

I know all this because the owner is a Morgan enthusiast with a 30yr old +8 road car, and he was displaying his knowledge of SLRs to me. Small world....
