That was you was it? Fantastic - we didnt get to see it on Post25 cos you came out the pitlane and back in after one lap, but we did hear you (well, the car!)

While I'm here, a massive thanks to the team on Post25 - good team, good fun, good weather and best of all, good racing!

McLaren Crash at Hawthorns

Hi folks. I'm not a marshal and hope you don't mind me showing up here to pick your brains ?

Ordinarily, I would expect such a big crash to bring out a safety car or a red flag. I would also expect the car to be dragged off to a safer place and for the driver to be shipped off to the medical centre for a thorough checkup.

I was quite suprised that none of these things happened. I was particularly suprised to see the driver, who had whacked the barrier at 160/170 mph(his estimate), hop over the spectator fence and make the long walk back to his pits alone.

I'm not being critical, I'm just curious

Thanks to all at post 5, great team, we had a good time spectating over the 2 days, and even managed to get 2 response incidents for the marshals wanting assessment. Well done all, made my job so easy . As we used to say in CART, we got in, we got out, and nobody got hurt.

Thanks to all on post 14 on the Sunday.
My Belgian friend enjoyed himself a lot for his first GP loop outing.
We did have a few crashes (who expects anything else on my post?) and yes Mr. Jones, even I had questions about the lack off.

Anyone know if any footage of the incident at Post 2 in the Caterham race is available? Just curious as someone who saw it happen from a distance.

The Motors TV Catherham Series programme on Saturday seemed thave quite a lot of footage from the incident both incar and trackside, I am sure it will be on again at least once this week.

I too would be interested as the view that I got was the opposite, from very close indeed, post 2 in fact.
