Stcky Outy Bits....

For the 2009 season the bodywork of F1 cars was tidied up by the technical regulations, which banned many of the add-on areo devices.

Ferrari were particularly clever, I recall, in using mirror mounts far out from the cockpit. These mounts were profiled to manage air flow down the side of the side pods but their primary function was wing mirror mounts and from memory that is how Ferrari got away with them....

Now the position of mirrors has been mandated by new technical regulations (from Barcelona) onto the side of the tub, for better rearward vision - a safety issue. Shouldn't the vanes that were used to mount the mirrors now be removed as they are now purely aero devices, or am I missing something?

Unfortunately the vanes are in an area that isn't covered by the "Sticky out bits" regulations.

It looks like all the sticky outy bits have migrated to the front wing!
