Ranald should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Nathan Kinch retires

I don't think this has been mentioned elsewhere so here it goes.
I read in this weeks Autosport that Nathan Kinch will be hanging up his boots from racing at the end of this season "to do something else". He says he will drive his fathers historic cars when he can. I've always quite rated him as a driver. It seems a shame for a driver of his age, 24, to stop so early. Business commitments maybe? Does this leave a seat open for Marino Franchetti next year?

Perhaps he's finding that he either can't or doesn't want to be a pro driver, and realizes he has to make steps towards making it in the "real" world? I could understand that, but I do hope he comes back. For a gentleman driver he's always been extremely impressive.

I remember watching him in an XJR-16 in a historic race at Silverstone.

Kinch, Win Percy and Martin Stretton (think it was him), were a class apart.

A big shame not to have Kinch in motorsport, he is a good driver and with time he could have gone on to become great. Still, you never know he may come back one day.

I'm pretty sure his career has been supported by family money. His dad owns a plethora of rather expensive "historical" racecars including recent Ferrari F1 chassis and the Group C cars that Nathan got his start in before turning to the GNM Saleen in Brit GT. With the way that he has popped out of cars for "other duties" this year (see Scuderia Ecosse at Le Mans, and deciding not to drive the Cirtek/Modena Aston) he certainly behaves like someone not trying to make his living at the sport. It's not a disrespect to his talent to say he is an amateur. Remember how people like Peter Revson got into the sport!

Nathan Kinch retired?

Just saw this on Autosport.com;

http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/56829

Can anyone shed any light on this?

Thank you FIRE, although I don't agree that he is such a good racing driver as everyone on that thread.
