Yeah you impressions pretty much sum up what I though. I had been before so I kind of knew what to expect. Killeri is a waste of time and would rather have stayed at the hotel ... Wish we could have gotten to the stages earlier ... but then I guess Rally Travel have to accomodate all levels of spectators. Shakedown and Ouninpohja were also major dissapointments. No more rallies for me this year I'm afraid. I tend to do one every other year. I may do Germany next year though or failing that, Sweden the year after. I have thought about going to a rally in the UK or maybe one of the Irish tarmac rounds in the future. Regards |

My thoughts on the trip echo yours, and it was not what I was expecting at all. I think part of the problem was the strict marshalls and the red tape which was placed quite a distance back from the stage itself. This made it a difficult rally to take photos at, made even more difficult by the masses of finnish spectators who, while occupying most of the space closest to the tape, seemed more interested in getting drunk than watching the cars. That said, we tended to find the further you walked from where rally travel dropped us, the more the crowd numbers and marshall numbers dropped and the better the viewing and photo taking oportunities became.
