Pirelli-The Tyre Story..
I am getting a little bored with the tyre stories..
They are round and black. Pirelli could you please choose how you arrive at your compounds and *please* let us get on with it.. I can not remember another time in the sport when a tyre manufacturer has had so much influence.. Let us not use this as an excuse for a good bashing session.. |

I am pleased you posted this , I feel exactly the same way . Trying not to do any bashing but Pirelli please pick a compound and stick to it . Why do we need a different tyre every season ? I hope the drivers comments lately about this seasons new tyres are just because of the cold temps , I dont want to see even more pitstops this year .

All I am asking for is some consistency..
The technology is brilliant. the fact that Pirelli can deliver many variations is really extremely clever, and I am being somewhat disingenuous when I say they are black and round, that was not too intelligent on my behalf.. For constructors to have to guess about what the next season will bring is somewhat ?..I am beginning to feel like we are being manipulated, I dont care for that feeling. The money is not there for this game.. |

In these limited testing times , how much track time is wasted just trying to figure out the tyres ?

In defence of Pirelli they produce new tyres every year to keep the teams on their toes. If they produced the same tyre every season the races could become too predictable, think back to the Bridgestone years.
At least with Pirelli the tyres present a challange to both the drivers and the teams. Next year with new engines then we will have a whole new challange. |

I too am bored of tyre stories. This is how it is, where is the story for those that get it? Two compounds each race and the team needs to get the best out of it. Bring on Melbourne... |

It 's a whole bunch of jibberish that, what is atm a single tyre formula, the tyres have become such as issue. 1 manufacturer choosing to participate means that multiple compounds are unnecessary. It completely demeans/devalues the supposed highest level of motorsport that any manufacturer is asked to develop marshmallow tyres. Whinging fans, he and around the world, who complain that races are drawn out or "boring" are blowing a tornado of hot air.
What those people don't get (even in the F1 industry) is that 300kms is a long, long, looooonnnnnnng way. It 's really is a long way. Unless you totally corrupt the nature of a legit car race, there will always be dead or quiet periods. But no, you/they want a fvee race on steroids. Do something else on a sunday afternoon/night. The only time tyre should become a news story is when it there's a legit competition between two or more manufacturers or when a manufacturer brings in a new development. It is secondary news story otherwise. |

Are they actually testing the race compounds that will be used? I like the guessing game of early last season. It got boring near the end where there was only one stop and tires didn't fade all that much.

It would be foolish to think that we can return to an era when racing was more pure, I would just sound like an old timer which I am..
But for heavens sake, you know what I mean don't you... Am I just being delusional ... |

I like racing too, but I enjoy seeing what driver can save their tires vs who can't. They all get the same tires. I remember when Ferrari/MS had exclusive Bridgestone support where no one else had that. That was unfair.

The sort of news story that you don't want is when one manufacturers tyres actually have a construction failure (Indy 2005) because they have pushed their tyre just a little too far. And if truth be told, that's why you'll never see another tyre war again. The FIA have no influence on how a tyre manufacturer makes an F1 tyre other than its dimensions. With a single tyre provider the FIA can at least be assured that the tyre isn't going to be structurally compromised. Those boring round black things do at least need to be safe.

In the 2007-10 period Bridgestone made tyres that were probably more suited to endurance racing. The current tyres are designed to have a limited lifespan and that is what makes the challenge, of which tyre to use and for how long. For the driver it is drive more aggresively and have more pit stops V's drive carefully and have less tyre changes. If you have tyres that last a whole race then it does not present a strategy challenge. |

Hamilton: Current F1 tyres dictate no out-and-out racing
https://www.crash.net/f1/news/911812...tandout-racing “I don’t know how it has been for everyone else but there have not been a lot of races where you have been able to push to the maximum. There is so much lift and coast because the tyres overheat the whole time." Hamilton |

I much prefer them to driver stories.
Yes, I remember TGF telling some journo much the same thing when asked which tyres he would be using for the race. Quote:

You can do better than that..
And it just fine if you don't know, because I think we are being hoodwinked with this tyre stuff.. |
