It is camp where you like, BUT within the marked pitches (denoted by cut grass lines) for fire reasons. You will find some marshals hoard areas so that they can hold hands with their best friends so you will find taped off areas.

Pitches are large enough for awnings, etc., and cars too (usually|).

The hard ground is because of the flint in the soil, you'd end up with lots of bent pegs until you use the industrial strength storm pegs.

Middle_BBG should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
[QUOTE=numbersix;3622719]I've not camped at Goodwood before.

Does this mean the delightful Denise will not be lighting up my day ?

Be nice to see you on the right side of the fence this year.

Just a word of warning to all - the camp sites seemed waterlogged when I drove past last month, so make sure you have plenty of bags for muddy gear......I have a supply I am willing to pass on at less than the 5p the supermarkets charge.

She'll be making a bee-line for you. As will I
Are you on #7? Wherever that is. I'm on #10 which I think is the kink before St Mary's and about as far away from the aristocracy as I can be without being on the beach. Makes sense

You'll magically transform into a blend of white and orange! Comfort comes before colour!

The Members' Meeting Final Instructions say that "No one will be allowed in to the Paddocks unless they are suitably dressed. Therefore any Marshal who would like to take a look around at convenient times must remove their overalls to comply with the following standards."

I'm sure it's been acceptable to look round the paddock wearing white overalls hasn't it?

Correct!

You cannot gain entry to the paddock whilst wearing orange probans however.

I don't think I'd comply with ANY acceptable standards if I removed my overalls...

Blue flagging ...

After receiving a reprimand (from an examining Post Chief) at last year's Revival for not Blue flagging cars about to be overtaken on the same lap as a significantly faster car, from now on I shall be using the Blue as a safety advisory whenever an obvious and significant speed differential exists, regardless of who is on what lap.

So this will cover:

- fastest qualifier(s) starting from the back of the grid, due to mechanical problems
- leading cars having an 'off'/visiting the pits, then rejoining to chase the pack

Of course this means that some other marshals, drivers and spectators will think I don't know what I'm doing ("He's not lapping them - idiot!") but I'll just have to live with that.

From now on, a waved 'Blue' in a race will mean 'Another competitor is trying to overtake.' The problem is, they're all racing! It's an easy decision if a 500bhp monster starts on pole and is cutting through the pack after a first lap spin, gobbling up far slower A35's. But how about cars that are (say) 5 seconds a lap quicker? As usual, it'll all be down to judgement in the moment, which is what makes flagging such fun!

I've had a few debates like that too. But since that's what the Blue Book says without any mention of lappery...I've always chosen to blue flag those examples and indeed any fast cars that have made a pit stop and are working back through the field.

After all it's only advisory and in the old days when I was racing I rather liked being advised that someone a lot faster than me was on his way past. If they're that much faster it's otherwise quite easy to miss their approach.
