Austrian René Binder is the newcomer into the entrants, his uncle Hans was an F1 driver during 1976-77. Binder is replacing Serenelli for this round.

How long does it take to get a flipping helicotper to the spa track, this red flag is too long for my book. at least the race was red flagged after the marshals relised the tire wall needed repaired and then FIA should have relised that the copter was needed and not restart the race

rules are rules. they're there for a reason, and if they can't restart a race without a medical helicopter being there that's what they have to wait for. it was unfortunate that they didn't appear to remember that until the last minute, but there you go.

i'm sure everyone would rather make sure everything's done to the letter. if you're obliged to provide a helicopter, there would be outrage (and presumably, lawsuits) if the race continued and it was needed and not there.

harsh accident for melker, hope he's ok. and surely canamasas saw berthon was between him and the wall??

According to Autosport Melker was conscious at least.

So happy for Marcus Ericsson! About time!

yep, that was a very clear pen , i could see the yellow flag very clear and if i was Chalire I would remind them not to overtake when there is a yellow flag waved/light flashing, (I think that was for the 1st lap crash at Eau Rouge)

Marcus666 has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
God dammit, a swede on the top step??!! Finally!!!!
But, to be diplomatic, I think he's not in position to gain any attention to either another GP2 team for 2013 and for shure not to a F1 team!

I think Felix Rosenqvist has bigger chances actually...

I think Ericcson deserved a penalty too though. He got a run of Harayanto through a yellow flag zone and made a pass just before another one. If i was CoC, i would have pinged him.

Haven't seen anything about penalties for Valsecchi or the 4 drivers that changed tyres at the restart. Assume they weren't punished?

Indeed!

Penal's handed out left right and centre by the stewards this weekend and with good reason it seems.

As for the races, from what little I mannaged to see, Marcus kept a bvery cool head on Saturday while all around him spectacularly did not, with exceptions of Calado and Nasr. The latter is keeping his power nicely dry for next season....

Gutierrez I feel blew his title chances away with that biff with Leal yesterday. Esteban has been the form man over the last few rounds but seems to be leaving himself with too much to do in the races? I know there's 4 races left and all that but he will be needing Razia and co to cock up to let him back in.
