UK TV Coverage?

Hi Guys,

Last season I watched CART on Channel 5, which showed ESPNs coverage a couple of days after each race.

They haven't bought the TV rights this year, so my question is who has the rights?

I haven't got cable or satellite, but I could be persuaded into satellite or one of those ITV digital boxes (cable isn't an option).

Many thanks for your help!

Logan should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
British Eurosport normally show most of the races live and the rest delayed that same evening.

However there seems to be some confusion as to whether they will be showing any of the races this year delayed or live (this normally happens every year right up until the weekend before the first race!), but the rumour is that the Beeb will be showing some (maybe all) races delayed by a week and the Rockingham race live.

I would wait and see who gets what before you run out and by a Digi box!

Logan.

I hope Eurosport keeps its LIVE coverage. Channel 5's coverage was good in 1998, but got worse as time went on and I switched to Eurosport.

Eurosport will have 1 hour delayed highlights, with live coverage offered in some countries!

So that probably means LIVE on British Eurosport and not on International Eurosport.

wwhy cant Eurosport just announce what they are going to do early on in the year.....every year its all ifs and buts until the week before the season start...we are lucky to have Eurosport in some ways as they do show the racing LIVe alot of the time , but why do they muck everyone around so much...there scheduling is a nightmare as well.

So that's BRITISH EUROSPORT, but what about Eurosport International? My suspicion is that they won't show it either...

It'll be worse than 2000 in that case...

So no CART. I will miss it as it was the best single seat racing. I can't be bothered with F1 anymore so any other single seater recommendations?

Last year British eurosport showed nearly every round live. Now they're going to this, an hour nearly a week after the race, that's pathetic. What are they going to show instead on a sunday night, obscure football matches between teams no-ones ever heard of before?

Terrible news, just got to prey someone else picks up the ball.
So us in the uk might not have any decent coverage of CART at all next year if Channel 5 are definitely not showing it? What about BBC? Sky?

From autosport.com:

This leaves the way free for additional television coverage on terrestrial channels in individual countries, which are still under negotiation.

"The coverage both across Europe and in the UK, is great news for CART and for the Rockingham 500 in September," said Rockingham spokesman Steve Slater. "With the increasing interest in CART and oval racing in Britain, we are sure that this is just the start."
Say what?!? I'm sorry, but this is just silly. Are they not aware that this is a huge step backwards from the coverage we were offered last year? If "this is just the start", I hate to think where it all ends... Besides, there'll be no "terrestrial channel" in Norway which will pick up and show CART live. If anyone is going to do it, it must be Eurosport. Bad decision, which will decrease the interest in CART.

Is it absolutely definite that Cart won't be shown in C5? (about the only good thing there's ever been to say about that station)
And if C5 isn't showing Cart, will we get it on a terrestrial channel in the UK? I've still not got as advanced as satellite yet

I can get DSF and RTL free on my satelight dish but I don't know if they will be showing any cart coverage. Apparently cart are talking to the BBC about coverage. Not sure how much help this is, but I was watching the late night sport on C5 last night and they still had CART in their opening sequece so maybe theyw will still show some-thing.

Dont think C5 know the difference between any classes of motorsport.Apparently the scheduled Busch Series REVIEW turned out to be a Winston Cup PREVIEW.Midnight next monday is scheduled 'Busch series highlights from Daytona'Seems they have moved from CART to NASCAR for this year, but dont seem sure which series they have bought!

now is C5's coverage turns out to be the 500, it's time for me to climb on the roof and fix the motorised dish, because they will need to have a feed for that, not tapes sent over on a plane - not enough time

NSSK Satellite here I come!!!

Eurosport owned the European LIVE broadcast rights to NWC last year, but did they show any races live?

Nope, they chose to show it a week later.

(but they couldn't sell the rights to another broadcaster either, which they were trying to do all year!)

Sorry guys and girls, just looked at Eurosport schedules for March (www.eurosport-tv.com click on schedules, user/pass as stated) and the ONLY live Motor Racing is the Formula 3000.

It is now confirmed - I HATE EUROSPORT!
