2019 WRC Silly Season
Next season is looking to be interesting with a few major switches on the teams front. Still a lot not confirmed though. What we do have:
Hyundai: Neuville....who else? Citroen: Ogier, talk of Lappi Ford: Evans? Breen? Probably need a more experienced driver in the mix Toyota: Tanak, Latvala I think...who else? |

Toyota, Citroen and Hyundai all have their number 1 driver locked in. The rest of the seats do seem to be up for grabs. Latvala and Lappi have both said they'll be in the WRC next year - but not decided where yet so presumably they have multiple options. If Lappi goes to Citroen then Latvala probably stays at Toyota - if Lappi stays then Latvala could well move. Meeke has also been rumoured for a Toyota drive. Msport need a number 1 driver - neither Evans nor Suninen are that driver in my opinion (but both are worth another season in the Fiestas).
Ostberg, Mikklesen, Paddon, Sordo, Breen are all available, Citroen still have Lefevbre on their books and surely some of the other WRC2 front runners will be looking to step up? Still plenty to shake out! |

Also I may be wrong, but isn’t their rumours of VW coming back?

Final roll of the dice for Meeke I would say.
What does this mean for M-Sport now? Breen or Ostberg to M-Sport perhaps? |

Agreed - he really has to make it work at Toyota.
Ostberg, Mikkelsen or Latvala? I can't see Breen going there - he's not shown enough in the Citroen to be a lead driver. Ostberg and Mikklesen are available whilst Latvala has said he has options - presumably Toyota and M-Sport? |

Meeke should not get any more rolls, has had more than enough over the years let's be honest.
Suninen and i expect Evans at Msport. |

The big question is whether Msport will still have Ford works backing and the fact Ogier left because he was unsure says to me it’s unlikely

Leaving is also an option for M-Sport according to Wilson. They apparently don't get much backing anyway.

Big shame to lose them, they have certainly added to the competition

That was always the case with losing Ogier
First year, his wages were paid by VW after their contract was dumped ,and now they will lose Red Bull most likely too, Tanank was unsponsored in his last year there. Which means Red Bull will likely go back to Citroen. Wilson has nothing to prove and I certainly would not begrudge the great man some time off! |

Hyundai: Neuville, Mikkelsen, Paddon, Sordo
Citroen: Ogier, Lappi, Ostberg, Breen M-Sport: Evans, Suninen Toyota: Tanak, Meeke, Latvala (Bold = confirmed, Italic = likely, normal = possible) Anyone like to add any to that lot? Plenty of seats still potentially available. |

Lappi now confirmed at Citroen:
https://www.wrc.com/en/wrc/news/octo...8--12-12-.html I guess that means Latvala will most likely stay at Toyota. |

Solid choice for Citroen. Meeke has now been officially confirmed too

Now what about Ford? The top 6 drivers are signed with other teams. I don't think they can fight for the title by keeping Suninen and Evans, neither by hiring Paddon, Sordo, Ostberg or Breen.

M-Sport is after all a private team with a little support by Ford. They have no choice

Chris Meeke gets a new co-driver for 2019 - Seb Marshall gets into the hot seat (so Paddon will need a new co-driver).

So we are finally gonna see him in something other than a Citroen? Fair play to him

All official now:
https://www.wrc.com/en/wrc/news/dece...2--12-12-.html He's in for 6 rounds - it'll be interesting to see how he gets on with the Hyundai (and how he compares with their other drivers). |

Paddon has left the WRC as a result. Shame really, he was a great addition to the series

With the news that PSRXVW are out of World Rallycross in 2019 will we see Solberg and Kristoffersson making some WRC2 appearances next year?
