What's the best Kart for Juniors to start in?

my 9year old son's is enrolled in the local kart track's race academy and he wants to continue racing when he's finished.

I haven't a clue about all the different chassis types and engines or classes. What's the best chassis/engine package and class to start in?

As a nine year old your son's got basically one class open to him - Cadet.

The engine in the class is restricted to one type, a Comer 60cc motor.
However there are now different types of Cadets with regards to the engines they use, if you follow me:

Another cadet class runs something called a WTP and another runs Honda GX160's.

Chassis are especially made for the class and are smaller than normal kart chassis. Various manafactures make them, such as Tony Kart, Birel, Swiss Hutless, Zip, and many more.

Hope I helped

Cheers,

So Cadet it is! What's the best chassis to go for out of all those? Am I right in thinking that I can buy one of these chassis with a bigger engine and and fit the right engine for cadet's?

Also, any decent websites that I can look at?

Try and get a Zip for Cadets, their the most popular so are the easiest to find help with when your starting out, + they are a good chassis.

I don't know much about the rules but i'd advise you to keep to a Cadet chassis rather than something like a TKM, Rotax chassis and fit a Cadet as it'll look like a bus comparefd to the rest of the field and wont be as nippy. Also, Cadet chassis' are cheaper

Ok cheers, I'll see how he gets on and as long as he's sure he wants to give it a go i'll try and find a Zip Cadet chassis for him and go from there. God I'm excited for him! I had wanted to race since I was his age

REALIST has a lot of promise if they can keep it on the circuit!
I don't think that's particularly good advice. See which Cadet chassis do well and are popular and well supported at your local circuit(s)and go for one of them. You'll need the support and will always have other people to ask for advice.
