ScottDay should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Scott Mansell

Does anyone know if Scott got the money he needed to go to the Renault World Series, as I think he will be a prspect for the future.

His driving style reminds me of the late and most definatly great Ayrton Senna.

He is definatly a name for the future.

Cheers,
Scott

I thought Scott was going to GP2 this year?

He states on his website that the World Series is his focus but he is still short of budget.

Did you REALLY just compare Scott Mansell to Ayrton Senna?

This was covered on another thread the other day with regard to the BBC Midlands Today coverage of Scott's "plight".

A liitle early i think to make a comparison with Senna. Some success in a competitive national feeder championship would be a good start.

I don't think a comparison was made with Senna's greatness; simply that the poster found S Mansell's driving style reminiscent of that of the great Brazilian. No different to describing a club cricketer as Goweresque...

The latest is that Scott has three quarters of the budget needed for a World Series seat.

I for one really want to see what Mansell can achieve against decent professional opposition. I suspect it will take him at least two seasons but from what I have seen of him (spectating) I do think he may surprise quite a few pundits and go rather well.

Good luck

It will be interesting to see how he stands up to the opposition in equal cars, but I do think (I haven't seen him "live"), that he seems to have the skill and determination to do it. I would've thought though that GP2 would be the better option to get noticed by the F1 circus.... especially with a name like Mansell!

World Series is a good stepping stone to GP2 for him though - he needs experience of racing high quality fields, rather than just driving fast cars which he got in BOSS.

I've seen him at a test day and he was driving some really powerfull machinary in awfull conditons, so he can drive a bit, but like many drivers with pontential, careers are halted by lack of money.

Agreed, but not if he was going to be trailing around at the back! Hopefully he will prove his doubters wrong in whatever serious category he ends up racing in, be it Renault 2000 or V6 or something else... it's hard to judge his potential until he's raced against some proper opposition. No doubt the Mansell name will help him though

Mansell in shoot-out for PanAm Renault V6 seat with AKA!!

Alex Lloyd and Danny Watts took part in AKA's driver shoot-out too.

I'd be surprised if Lloyd and Watts weren't significantly faster, although the car is not the sharpest knife in the box.

I'm negotiating some tests in the ZigZag Benetton this year with Scott's dad at the mo, I'll ask him next time I meet him.

I think Scott was one of five drivers who crashed during the test.

I agree kicking back and that is the plan if our budget allows.

It will certainly be a challenge to drive an alien car on an alien track where many drivers will have raced for some time, but having seen the times he has set in direct comparison to Neel Jani, Clivione Piccione, Danny Watts and Alex Lloyd when going directly up against them, I am confident he will surprise many people.

I agree, Scott needs to make an impression, but he is most capable. All the best mate.
