At this stage Heycoop, your wish may be granted

A little report of mine I tossed online this afternoon

https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?f...type=1&theater

On a related note, the category Facebook page just made a little jibe about the V8 Supercar calender correlating with the 2014 SuperTourer calender. Hmm.

Great article HP - one of the credible NZ motorsport facebook reporters. Looking forward to sanctioning. Means officials would be able to start enforcing the series regulations (unlike what was reported from Taupo)

There is a big difference between a sanctioned series and a MSNZ championship.

Are they just hoping for sanctioning
or sanctioning and championship status?

The latter. According to Noonan they're already a 'sanctioned' series. All the wording hoopla made me want to eat razor blades.

Noonan must be wrong. Have checked list of sanctioned series on MSNZ website and can't see SuperTours listed

According to your quote,

Quote:
“MotorSport New Zealand is currently working with the management of V8 SuperTourers on the sanctioning of their rules and regulations. That work has not been completed as yet but completion of a final set of rules and regulations is very close.”
the rules are not yet finalized
and a series cannot be sanctioned if the rules are not finalized
so maybe Noonan doesn't know what sanctioned means.

I hope there is not another crap fight starts
when MSNZ approves it and gives them sanctioning
but V8ST thought they were getting championship status not just sanctioning.

To correct my comment (well, Noonans comment), I get the feeling he was mis-terming how the category runs under an MSNZ permit in the conversation we had - as 'sanctioning'. Semantics will be the death of humanity

The discussions going on at the moment though are definitely regarding the series getting championship-status though

What is a "Sanctioned Championship" anyway?? I don't even think there is such a thing...

Sanctioned SERIES, or MSNZ Championship, but never heard of a Sanctioned Championship before...

Here is a link to the final entry lists for this weekend for the enduros...

http://www.speedcafe.co.nz/2013/09/2...pening-enduro/

Intertsting that Mclennans car is on the list. And also another DVS entrant with Nick McBride (part of TDR).

On another note, just checked in with the ever changing weather. Now, as it stands, there could be some light rain on Saturday easing after lunch. Sunday looks clear, however a cold front looks to be closing in late on Sunday (as in at night time) so should not affect the racing AT THIS STAGE

Winds prevailing from the west on Saturday and moving NW for Sunday which is always a clue to an impending cold front. Could get chilly NZ wide Monday night onwards.

Come in Dunedin.....

Interesting that there are 16 cars running according to Speedcafe yet the V8 Supertourers have 19 cars running in the entry list on their Facebook page.

John McIntyre & Jono Lester
Dominic Storey & Mark Gibson
Ant Pedersen & Chaz Mostert
Gary Jacobson & Geoff Emery
Mitch Cunningham & Wade Cunningham
Andre Heimgartner & Paul Morris
Andy Booth & Shae Davies
Craig Baird & Matthew Lockwood...
Angus Fogg & Dale Wood
Simon McLennan & Cameron Waters
Daniel Gaunt & Andrew Waite
Shane Van Gisbergen & Alex Davison
Scott McLaughlin & Jonathon Webb
Simon Evans & Jonny Reid
Eddie Bell & Nick McBride
Paul Manuell & John Penny
Richard Moore & Tim Slade
Greg Murphy & Jack Perkins
Tim Edgell & Lee Lee Holdsworth

Will be interested to see which list is correct.

Interesting point adbutler, I didn't pick that up when I viewed Speedcafe today.

I notice the two Erebus drivers are not on the Speedcafe list, so i'd take a guess and say that Speedcafe's list is incorrect.

I'm going to head to HD on Friday anyway and will count the cars for sure!!

But leaving out Richard Moore/Tim Slade, and Tim Edgell/ Lee Holdsworth does seem a bit odd as those two co drivers are big news for the category.

I'd suggest it's just a typo. If one of the missing cars was the McLennan car on the other hand...

Yeah, I don't think they're happy campers if the comment on their Facebook page is anything to go by. Fingers crossed they can sort out their differences and get the car on the grid.

I think I spoke too soon. Note that one particular car is absent from the V8ST entry list...

Yet they announced Waters as their co driver?

Could be they have forgotten to put them on the list. I know theres one or two Honda Cup guys that have entered ages ago but aren't on the list.

I seem to remember M2 doing quite well in some of the enduros last year?

M2 themselves didn't announce Waters - the V8ST Facebook page did when they published the full list of cars and drivers the other day.

Where are supertoures going with this comment and who would have written this or changed the rule.

http://www.speedcafe.co.nz/2013/09/2...ing-standards/

Sure there have been some issues like the start at puke and the start of R3 at Taupo but the general driving standards are in no way different from any other class at the moment. The real issue here is some fool has listened to one winging father and is jeopardising the other 19 franchise holders. If you arent on the same page by now, 50% of the teams are jumping up and down at the other 50% of teams who are getting away with rule changes and some have rules that only effect themselves. I feel this is heading the same way as the motorsport company did years ago when MSNZ dished out 60k of fines and everyone was going to pack up. If this is a theory of V8ST to get some income for themselves then they are heading the wrong way. If they are genuine they will offer a good portion of that fine back to the bloke they wrecked on the track. ST need to look at their judicial system first and get that refined before they start going off on this tangent.

Well I thought this was old news, but turns out its new news!!

John Penny is being replaced by Nick Percat for Round Six, and possibly Pukekohe as well. Confirmed of Paul Manuell's Facebook page, plus in the latest section of Driven, where they asked the ST drivers who was going to win at Bathurst, Paul said something along the lines of "I can't say anything but my teammate, so Garth Tander and Nick Percat for the win"

Should be a great boost for Paul Manuell. Im not at all saying John Penny's not a good driver (in fact as a pair they did brilliant at Hampton given the level of competition), but with Nick Percat onboard, it gives a teammate with a lot of experience. Should be interesting tow watch.

Yes this is great for ST. Another well known Aussie driver to join the series.

So that's two HRT drivers now (Murph, Percat) and two FPR drivers (Alex Davo and Chaz (although I know he of course races for DJR but has strong links to FPR) and two erebus drivers, Slade and Holdsworth. All we need now is for some of the Nissan guys to head over and we'd have the whole lot.......but in way we already do in the form of Dan Gaunt who is racing a Nissan in Aus for their enduros.

All positive stuff, and I hope the re-fuelling adds some real spice to proceedings
