"New look" Autosport

Just got my "new look" Autosport and despite the hype they've been giving it for the past few weeks it wasn't the dramatic change I was expecting.

It reminds me of the Autosports of the early 1980s....but obviously with colour.

And is it just me or was there less news in its national racing section? I turned the pages expecting some more only to get a double page ad for the Porsche Carrera Cup...

Nice to see that Marcus Pye has got a bigger column though(!)

Can't say that I like it too much... You're right, there seems to be a lot less news...

Hope they don't slim down the national racing section too much more!

Don't worry they'll change it again this time next year.

Sticking to the National news part. They isn't too much is there, although we'll know better when we get more into the season...

Adam, We already know it won't improve.
There have been various threads on the dire National content in the comics, also what constitutes National. The only hope we have is twofold.
1. Motorsport News stop repeating the majority of ASpt content and do their own thing.
2. Motorsport News revise their racing reports back to individual meetings, not the current big lump where it is difficult to know where one meeting finishes and another starts.

I agree that the format of the MN race reports is a bit of a mess. Problem with your first point is that by and large the people contributing the content are the same, so by definition there will be a lot of overlap.

Ian, I would have put money on you being the first to reply.
Shouldn't you be adding things up between 9 and 5 - or whatever it is accountants do? Maybe this site should be renamed 11.75 / 11.75ths Motorsport to include the vat?
The first point wasn't referring to freelance contributions from the likes of your good self, more the staffers input.

That is a fair point. Surely they have got enough money to employ enough people to write different stories rather than copying it from one magazine to another....?

I think the contributed articles are good, but they need more fulltime people who know what they are talking about

"Great new look, same lack of content". If they've got enough money to spend on a facelift, why not spend that extra money making the national and club section longer and actually put some features in, rather than keep changing the layout that no-one really cares about?

Autosport is a waste of time and money except for the Marcus Pye slot, the magazine concentrates on too much F1 and international stuff, which is covered in other dedicated publications...........I say expand the national racing section have a proper rally section covering the national scene, have a relatively small international/F1 section.....cos thats the boring side of motorsport and have a dedicated "Ovals" section........Hey come to think about it scrap Autosport and make MN glossy and bigger......JOB DONE!!

Send stuff to http://www.thegrid.co.uk on your races or championships. We get 3,000 hits per day. We don't use professionals who want paying, we put stuff on from club racers. Good free publicity.

I get all I need from Autosport just by picking it up in the newsagents and flicking through the last 10 or so pages. I read an old copy the other day, from the late 70's, different magazine altogether.

How you doin? Like the site. Autosport appears to be written by teenagers for teenagers.Even Roebuck is going downhill with with age...there i've said it.
