TOCA Latest

Apparently for 2002 the Future Tourers will be fitted with an control quad-cam Toyota V8 engine (which would pump out 460hp), sequential gearboxes, and independant rear suspension. All this for a $100,000 race car- fantastic huh?

What do you guys think?

Also the TOCA Calendar has been announced-
1. Sept 9 Lakeside
2. Oct 14 Oran Park
3. Nov 11 Symmons Plains
4. Nov 18 Wakefield Park
5. Jan 27 Lakeside
6. Feb 17 Wakefield Park
7. Mar 3 or 10 Oran Park
with an extra 500km to be added.

Hmmm....January 27 at Lakeside, I hope it aint too hot then....remember the 1998 ATCC? One weekend racing in Tasmania, the next in central NSW??

But hey, how many years has it been since TOCA kept their calendar solid??

Ray Bell should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
As an aside, if this engine works well, maybe it should be in Formula Toyota?

Apparently the engine would need to be properly dry sumped, and have a "control fuel injection body" fitted.

So how much would an engine like this cost??

Another aside- Toyota et al groan that their "hi-tech" engines aren't allowed in V8 Supercars. Could this be biting back, possibly get Toyota factory support??

Gee, these TOCA tourers sound half decent. I do not believe how ever, that the category can survive alongside the V8 Supercars. Glad to see two races at Lakeside (10 minutes from my house!).
