I must admit the thought of that is keeping my pecker up.

I thought Mr Dawkins's post No.39 was rather amusing. I just wish I'd have thought of it.

To get back on thread Mr Minshaw, will we be honoured by your participation at all this year? It would be an honour to have a Formula One race winner on the grid.

It's worrying that I was thinking the same as diz regarding the content of the thread - perhaps a helpful moderator would like to do a little splitting?

On the subject of NWFF - I am looking forward to rejoining the championship for this meeting and the next one. It is good that the racing is all over by quite early in the afternoon, but I do wish there was more than one race in between the two FF events as it makes life far harder for me. Could you sort that out please diz?

If no one is with us then no problem although Duncan said we had to share so I am not sure if that is already sorted or not.

"Hello, is that Infiniti Motorsport, Chris here. Let's paint all the cars in corporate colours, say yellow and royal blue and get oodles of clothing to match"
"OK Chris"
Then somebody gave Chris a tin of Gulf Oil and the corporate image was,
er how do I put this, ah yes, compromised.
'A sea of yellow and royal blue with a tinge of light blue and orange in the corner of the awning'

I was standing on the Luffield terracing at Silverstone on Saturday with the Autosport/MN reporter (and FF1600 contributor) and his father. I can't remember which of them made the observation about cars being painted in Gulf colours often being rather slow, but one of them did. They both post on here so perhaps they will remind me... Obviously I said nothing, as I know that Redracer has rare talents.

Scoop and Father of Scoop perchance??????????

IIRC Gulf backed cars mainly tended to be GT40s', Mirages and Porsches pedalled indecently rapidly to great success at Le Mans etc., so "often being rather slow" doesn't really seem to fit.

Rather than cars running in Gulf livery from the 'golden era', I think the comment was being made about club racers who choose to run that colour scheme.

And no, it wasn't Scoop.

Mirage did initially struggle in the early days Diz (believe '72 was their first year?)

I thought that radical with gulf colours was quite quick?

I can't think of another single seater running gulf colours

Probably Lee Chatburn will do, as he appears to be having so much trouble with getting sticky race numbers, his chances of getting a tin of paint are probably zilch
