garry should be qualifying in the top 10 on the grid
Open Formula Saloon races Brands

There is an open Formula saloon event at Brands on the 19/20th which is the Formula Ford Festival. You do not need to be a member of the Formula Saloons or comply to their regs. All you need is a national B licence and a tidy car. Entry fee is £295 and you get 1 x 20 min qualifying and 2 x 20 lap races. If we get over 21 cars then there will be a rebate to all those entered. The more cars there are over 21 the bigger the rebate so to make it cheaper for every one lets try and get a full grid.
My calculations show that if we get 30 cars then there will be a £88.50 rebate per driver.
All those interested please either contact myself or the BRSCC.

Good luck Garry. As a regular marshal at Brands I would love to see you get a full grid and some great racing as well!

Do not know yet Stephen but I have been busy trying to get new cars out as this is an Open meeting. When we were offered this meeting I accepted as it would be a good meeting to show the series off at even though it is only 1 week after our Championship final at Thruxton. Initially we were promised 14 garages along with the Zip Formula getting 14 also however we were told at the begining of Sept that we could not have the garages as they had to be given to a BRSCC Championship. Because of this many of our regular drivers including myself are refusing to go as we cannot get our cars around the paddock without the risk of burning our clutches out. Do not get me wrong we are not throwing our dummies out it is purley for practicle reasons. I for one am not willing to risk £2000.00 on a clutch, also our turning circles are non existant and makes getting around the paddock very difficult.
I then suggested to the BRSCC that we make the races open to anyone in a Saloon but that seeing as the FS name was still there we will search out the cars. This has been difficult because although the deal was done with the BRSCC early on in the year we where not on the posters etc advertising the meeting so no-one would know we were there.
This is why I have been advertising on this forum, I have also been trying to get the weekly rags to just print a little something on it to help us but to no avail.
So please spread the word.

Will do Garry. I'm sorry to hear about the garages and am at a loss to know why Zip Ford (arguably the ugliest car ever made) need to have garages? Hopefully something can be sorted out in advance and that you and your racing friends will be able to make the trip to Brands Hatch for the 'Festival'.

Stephen, grand total of entries to date for brands is 8. Reasons for this seems to be at least 9 cars not going due to not having garages, loosing another 4 due to a last minute meeting at Rockingham arranged by the BRSCC and 5 I know of not going because they are going to do the last EERC meeting at Brands in November instead. The BRSCC has also had enquiries from a few drivers who will not committ until the entry is over 20 thus costing less, however these need to enter to acheive 20.

Hmm a catch 22 situation then! I can only wish you luck in trying to persuede a few more drivers to join in as 8 cars will not make much of a spectacle. When are organisers going to realise that to run race meetings at different circuits on the same day splits both competitor and marshalling forces and eventually leads to smaller grids?

Someone has seen sense and the entry fee has been reduced to £250 for the two races which are now 20 lappers instead of 24.

Great news Rod. Hopefully it will mean some more entries and full grids. At least you get a few more spectators at the Festival to admire your driving prowess! Who's to say you won't get offered a 'works' drive as a result

Will you be bringing the Escort along Rod?
